In October last year someone on the TT chat forum was asking why all the fountains in Munich had suddenly been encased in wood. The answer, of course, was to protect them from winter frost. Well, now that Summer is here the fountains are being uncovered again. The first to have it's wooden protection removed will be the Wittelsbacher Brunnen on Lenbachplatz. This will happen on Thursday 24th March 2005. By the middle of May all 179 of the fountains managed by the Munich council will be uncovered. This involves the removal of 4,400 square meters of wooden coverings.

Hofgarten, nr. Odeonsplatz, was uncovered yesterday around 3pm.

They were also planting new flowers around the grass.
