Yes you read correctly: Germany host England for a football match at Unterhaching Sportpark on Thursday July 17, 2008.

Kick off is early, at 6pm, but will be on TV on ARD.

Tickets cost, at most, €20 available at various ticket points around Munich.

More information can be found at the Deutscher Fussball-Bund website.

So who fancies it then? A chance to see the world champions warm up before heading to the Olympics.

And if that sounds odd - why? It's the women's teams playing, of course, where the Germans do know how to get to finals and win them.

A bit of background to this:

The German women's national football team is the reigning world champion, having won the 2003 and the 2007 Women's World Cup. Thus far, Germany is the only nation to have won both the men's and women's World Cups. Current team captain is Birgit Prinz from Frankfurt.

The England women's national football team has never won anything. They got to the group stage of the last two European Championships, however, and qualified for the World Cups in 1995 and 2007. Current team captain is Faye White from Crawley. She holds and MBE and is captain of the Arsenal women's team. She's pictured below with some other bloke.

I'll probably show up for a bit, as I work just 100m north of the stadium. We might even get free tix, like usual with games played in Unterhaching.
