Starting a photography group in Heidelberg

hi, i'm interested in joining a photography group in the heidelberg area. does anyone know of one they can point me toward or is anyone interested in starting one?
if you are, we can talk about specifics. but i'm basically interested in sharing my passion for photography with others who feel the same way...where we can teach each other and explore various aspects of photography--studio, landscape, portraiture, flash, documentary, artistic, travel, etc. i'm also interested in taking local photo hikes/walks.

I would be interested in joining a photography group, but as a complete novice i would not be able to offer any advice ( would be interested in recieving lots of it).

I'd be interested, especially as my SLR has been sadly neglected recently. I'll be gone for about a month, but would be interested in joining up after I return.

Im still interested in this photography group so I think that makes 3 or 4. Good for a start. Im only free sunday this weekend and not free the following weekend if you were thinking of getting together. Free to meet during the week but only in the evening.

Excellent! I propose a meet-up in a cafe this coming week. How about Sunday afternoon at the Star Coffee internet cafe on the Hauptstraße? Feel free to suggest a specific time or a different place.

Thats a good idea. Let me propose 4 pm on Sunday afternoon. Where exactly on haupstrasse is that. I will be coming from the bismarc platz direction. (spelling is wrong).

Sounds fine with me. If coming from the Bismark Platz, it will be on the left side of the street a little before the Uniplatz. Alternatively, we could just meet somewhere closer to the Bismark Platz (Tsilbo cafe, for example)

No Star Coffee is fine, I like walking along haupstrasse any how.

Thanks for posting flickr usernames- excellent pics btw. When we last met-up we decided it would be nice to organize photo trips to interesting places. I believe the consensus for the destination for our next trip was the Luisenpark in Mannheim within the next few weeks. Is everyone still happy with this?

We also floated ideas for later trips including:
Schwetzingen, Karlsruhe, Kaiserslautern, Speyer, Bad Wimpfen, Bad Durkheim.

Closer to home:
Heiligenberg ruins, Philosophenweg, Schloss/Schlossgarten, Zoo
*(I've forgotten many of these suggestions so please add to this list)

So, when do people want to get together next? There is the HD Herbst meet-up on Sept. 27, but we could meet-up on Sunday. There's always next weekend though I won't be able to come

Makes sense to me. Do you want to meet at Luisenpark or the Mannheim station? If the station then 2:20-2:30 otherwise...hmm it appears we can hop onto the 6 tram and it's about 2km away so 10min later.

Hi all, sorry about this but I'm going to have to cancel today. I got home only by 2AM (missed the 22:05 train and the next train at 23:14 was late),... then had a lot of screaming football fans to keep me awake most of the night. My camera isn't much, but I'd like to tag along sometime. Then again, I back out of these things almost as often as tennisplyr...

What you haven't seen is the other 85 which weren't much good!

Was anything planned for the next meetup? Or should I come up with a couple of suggestions? In the mean-time, i was at the Canstatter volksfest in Stuttgart this past weekend. I got a couple of decent shots of the fair. Check 'em out here and leave your comments/suggestions

I, too, would have loved photographic evidence of your drunken football fans. We experienced some of that last weekend (had a whole group get off the S-bahn and start pissing in a row on the fence line- very nice).

Here're my suggestions for the next photographic excursions. These may be day-trips so feel free to also suggest other places that you think are closer.
Mainz, Strasbourg, Freiburg, Stuttgart.

Alternatively, Carter101 pointed me to a photography exhibition in Mannheim highlighting the Hasselblad winners from 1980 - 2008. However, the entry to the museum is 10 Euro... so this could be sort of a meetup prior to our next excursion.

Times: This weekend is pretty busy for me, so I can manage a meetup in Mannheim for an evening + museum, but next weekend is open.

Suggestions?
