Good Morning Ya'll~
I have been reading many of your postings and appreciate the information you share! Thank you! I would like specific information on travel time to/from Robinson Barracks and various villages in the area. The mode of travel is auto. I will need to arrive inside RB no later than 7:45 A.M. and should be leaving around 4-4:30 P.M. I am hoping to be able to get housing as close to RB as possible. Right now, I am especially interested in Sindelfingen, Ludwigsburg, Boblingen, Leonburg but welcome any information you are willing to share. Thank you in advance!

Instead of asking on TT whay not try something just (Or more) usefull..
Google MapsClick the above link, in the search field add "to: Destination" and it will calculate a route for you and give you travel times.

Thanks for the suggestion Dark Knight! I'll definitely google map it! I have been gathering information through this forum, by using search engines, and thought I'd see what the real people who live in these areas have to say. Most of the time, "word of mouth" is the best form of information gathering for me. Real people doing real things like driving back and forth daily ... All information/suggestions are welcome...Thank you again, Dark Knight! Also, thank you Robin for PM'ing me!

Google maps will only show you routes and calculate travel times without traffic. So whatever GM says, add 15-20min onto the travel time
to allow for the bases morning/afternoon rush hour.

Thanks for the additional advice on time, Dark Knight! I will be arriving on August 17th and have booked a hotel in Sindelfingen. I start work on the 20th so I'm hitting the ground running. I would have probably been late the first day if you had not added this piece of information! Thank you! Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend!

My kids rid the school bus from a town just outside of Sindelfingen to Robinson Barracks, their bus leaves at 6.45am to get them at school for 8am. Traffic in that area stinks! It will be easier when you start work in August because the German kids are on Summer break until early September, so a lot of parents aren't commuting to work as they are also on vacation. There is also a free duty bus that runs from Patch Barracks to Robinson and back, every day (one maybe two an hour), you'd have to check with the driver for a schedule as it cannot be published for security reasons.

So we should ask the driver... ah ... thanks for that little nugget of security information published on the WWW.

That doesn't breach OPSEC as it is advice published by the US military on a site freely available to absolutely any Tom Dick or Osama on the www. Take it up with the US military webmaster if you have a problem with it.

travelling from sin to rb...better you than me...i live just 7 mins from the base and it still sucks sometimes to there in the morning if you leave after 7am and
after work if you leave after 4:30...
if you like to drive, the places you listed are good i guess but man...just a couple weeks back there was an accident on the autobahn going toward rb from patch...took me almost two hours to get home and patch is only 20-25 mins from my place. housing usually has a lot of options near rb...i'd check that out before looking at apts near panzer.

You're right! It is just too far and too hard to find RB-it is certainly tucked away! Got there in 30 minutes today but took over 2-3 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday...fire at the cutoff in front of the bridge yesterday...ugh Made it to housing on Panzer today and have an appointment on Tuesday, September 2nd. I'm going to put an add in the the paper and see if there are any results. It would be great if we could get something right there on that hill-Z-town on BC would be great...Sounds like it'll be awhile before we get o place anyway. We'll see. Thank you everyone for your imput! Peace Out!

I'm arriving in January. I'm living in Robinson but working at Patch. How long should I expect the shuttle between bases to take?
Anyone ever bicycle between those bases? I'm an avid cyclist so it's not a problem with mileage as much as traffic.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Puskas

Your looking at a 16-20km route with a 25-30min drive (Not including traffic congestion, accidents, etc)
Robinson is far north of stuttgart with patch being far south west.. -
See LinkIf you were to bike ride this route I'd say it would take you 1.5-2hrs or more.. And the linked route is deff. NOT bike rider friendly, so you'll need
to find a route thru the woods, which will increase your ride time.
As you can read in the above posts traffic is really bad in Stuttgart in the mornings and afternoons. Esp. around the Military bases..
So as a rule of thumb, add 30-45min to whatever time google says the travel time should be.
