A new bar in Berlin that is has a "Stasi" theme has opened in Berlin. Along with its "shredded files and urn containing the fake remains of Eric Honecker", regular drinkers will be given a Stasi style I.D card that gives 10% off the price of drinks.
The locals are not happy, especially the "victims" of the Stasi. I do not think that the idea will catch on like "Irish" themed pubs and I cannot imagine "Gestapo" themed pubs being opened (though they may catch on). For the full story: Berlin ‘Stasi bar’ draws protests

That bar is right across the street from the Finanzamt, which is in the old Stasi building -- I found that a lot more offensive during a recent tax audit than any bar. But the bar is in bad taste, I guess.
The bar used to be an old neo nazi haunt until it was closed.
