Zwiebelfest Esslingen (onion festival)

For all where like Onioncake and wine , other food aviable too.
The plan is to meet at 5 pm at the main station here in Stuttgart and travel together to Esslingen ( seems the best idea )
It's a short walking distance away from the main station in Esslingen.
Anyone where is interested please post here.

If there are live bands then maybe Saturday evening is perfect, however it could also be good to go earlier (and see Esslingen, which is meant to be a nice town), or Sunday when everywhere else will be dead anyway ;)

So ... Onions on Sunday! We're off to Esslingen for sightseeing and to enjoy whatever the Germans can do with onions.

Plan is to meet at an S-Bahn stop in Stuttgart at 4pm. So far only three of us are going : Me, mayfly and Woo. Who else? Esslingen is a beautiful place. As for onions ... they'll bring a tear to your eye.

Yeah, I was suitably vague ;) I didn't pick a station as I didn't know who was interested in coming.

Howabout the main one, Stadtmitte? The S1 goes to Esslingen.

ps.i think we can get a day ticket or upto 5 people for 9 euros... hmm actually that may be a family ticket for 2 adults and two kids... still probably cheaper.

cool - can someone check the ticketing options? This is for the s-bahn. There might be a tourist ticket in which case I can buy that maybe from the tourist office tomorrow. I speak no German which usually tricks them into believing I'm a real tourist and not an expat

Esslingen lies in the 3rd zone, so a ticket for 5 people to travel there will cost €15.

Bumped into Serene and EeSiew earlier this evening while I was loitering around Koenigstr. eating the Nordsee take on fish&chips. They're both going to join us (Serene at the S-Bahn stop, EeSiew in Esslingen).

Yep - thanks everyone! Can't believe 12 people thought it was worth an S-Bahn trip to go to an onion festival, but it was worth it ;)

Esslingen is very picturesque, especially the view from the steps leading up to the "The Burg" (kind of castle). Thanks to Serene for motivating a few of us to make the walk in the rain. Luckily, it stopped raining almost immediately. A few hardy souls (me, Woo and Derwiskinator) then went to Untertürkheim for the wine festival. We caught the end of it and managed to prop up the bar for a couple of glasses.
