Black Adder and tasty food. I'll show some episodes (vote for which series you'd like me to start with!) tomorrow at my place.

Not only do we get to watch a very decent British comedy, in English, with no subtitles, but we also get great food.

Why? j.canada and Serene are cooking! Janet will be baking muffins and Serene will be cooking a couple of Asian dishes (one veggie).

I really need to know how many are interested asap so we can work out food quantities. I'll also post again tomorrow to say whether you all need to bring beers, food (anyone else fancy cooking?) and/or contribution towards the ingredients. It'll probably be a combination of the three ;)

I live close to the junction of Tuebingerstr. and Silberburgstr. - send me a message for my actual address and a contact number if needed.

Please only post here if you're very likely to attend as it's hard to co-ordinate something like this without knowing numbers. Of course, if you don't want to eat and just fancy necking some beers while watching DVDs then it's not so important that we know in advance.

i am definitely in for the veggie dish and the dessert (i'll be there early too with my tray) and of course also for some good British comedy education. bis morgen!
rowhan
Blackadder... I vote for the first season, just to reduce the number of necessary explanations, even though it's obviously not the best.
j.canada
I'm in...obviously. Does any one have any objection to mint chocolate?
adrianlondon
I vote for the second series, Elizabethan England.

No objection to mint chocolate from me.

Rowhan, does your post here constitute an attendance at the event? I'm assuming it does ;) You can bring your dodgy whiskey that you'll win tonight at the pub quiz with your in-depth knowledge of all things Bhutanese.
rowhan
Yeah yeah. If nothing else I'll buy more Paddy's.
adrianlondon
Thanks to Serene, there will now be two Asian veggie dishes and one meat one. Plus mint chocolate muffins canadian style.
jkodok
Hi there, finally in Stuttgart now and looking forward to getting to some Toytown meetups. I would like to come for the DVD night. Can I bring along my boyfriend even though he has no idea of how great blackadder is. What do you need us to bring and what time is it? I can make a chinese dish like egg-fried rice or chicken stir fry etc. Let me know.

Fantastic, wish I were close enough to attend...hang on, Balders - have you a cunning plan?
adrianlondon
Hi Jkodoc, you're both welcome! Assuming you're Chinese (or of Chinese origin) which it seems like you are, then either of those dishes you mention sound good! Or whatever you want, really ;)

Probably best to cook it at your place and bring it, as I already have two cooks in my small apartment that night. However, if you wanted to pitch in a crowded kitchen and cook "on site" I'm sure that could work too. I've only got a halogen hob unfortunately; no gas. Seems a common problem in the apartments here in Stuttgart.

Your boyfriend can bring beer ;)

I'll send you my address.
rowhan
I object to mint chocolate.
mayfly
Hi , so i'm coming too. Vote to bring beer or something else with me.Never mind about the food and which season to watch .Never watched Black Adder .
adrianlondon
Fantastic, no muffins for Rowhan.

Mayfly - please bring beer! Thanks.

Counting the people who've posted (plus Serene), that makes 8. I assume Woo and some others will see this post tonight. I can't really accommodate many more than 10, plus cooking for more than 10 gets tricky. I may be asking some people to bring saucepans and plates. I'll check and confirm tomorrow.

I didn't say that I won't eat them, just that I object to them.
jaketrit
cool! I can bring the french rum that hasn't actually been drank yet (yeah, I'm a pretty loust TT event co-ordinator, I know).

I'll bring that and coke or something, lemme know if I should bring anything else.
adrianlondon
ok - this event is now full! Woo hasn't posted yet (why can't she piss her life away on the internet at work like everyone else) but is coming. I don't think I've forgotten anyone.

French rum sounds pretty gross. Is it drinkable, Jake? I don't want you to just turn up with a joke drink.
woo
yes sorry im late everybody, but you know me, i always turn up eventually like a bad smell.
I'll bring beers, am v happy with veggie fud but think we should overrule rohan on the first series... most people with half a brain cell can pick the story up apart from him obviously... look what happened with happy feet tongue.gif
bis nachher schaetzchen
adrianlondon
Rowhan has very, very sad feet.
mayfly
Hi ,bear me too , mean bring beer too.Hopefully i end not up with all the beer and whiskey somewhere in a corner from your bathroom. And when Taxi please a driver with no beard and better manners blink.gif
adrianlondon
Mayfly you were very, very drunk on Friday and I'm not sure who got the worse deal - you or the taxi driver ;)

OK - we should have enough food now for 10 people. I'm not sure whether to take contributions for the ingredients or press gang the non-cookers into cooking a future time. I think the latter is the most fun. Jake, when do you leave for the US? What's your signature dish? I bet it's "nachos a la bag".

I bought some beers for the chefs (and so some of you can swap your warm beers for cold ones when you arrive) but if everyone can bring drinks for themselves (and me!) then that'd be great. Oh, I also have diet coke/pepsi. And a few types of tea, mainly chinese. I'm not German, so if you need lightly carbonated Himalayan springwater touched only by the delicate genitalia of kidnapped 14 year old Indian virgin girls, then please bring your own.
mayfly
Oh and what is when Rowhan is serving then some Icelandish dish.Ok we have no sea here but the Neckar and a few Seals in the zoo . When someone of them got missing we know then were the culprit is biggrin.gif .Anyway, what happens to the poor penguin???
woo
i sense something fishy here and i dont mean the contents of baldrick's apple pie... dry.gif

wolfgangstuttgart
Wow, I envy you for at least the muffins, guys (haven't seen Black Adder any time so far). Hope you're all having a great evening ... smile.gif

Until Wednesday ...
adrianlondon
Assuming these become regular events I'll either work out a way to somehow cope wth more people, or I'll need to alternate the attendees. Cooking for more than 10 people, though, isn't a fun experience. Maybe the dinner parties will become decoupled from the black-adder ones, but with only 7 nights in a week finding time is going to be tricky.

Definitely. Sometimes I even hate to cook for myself, not because I hate to cook, but because it takes such a long time to finish it. I'm waiting for the future: Entering a room like "Lots of Tacos with lots of Salsa first. Not too hot. Small portion fish'n' chips about 15 minutes later. Play Music: <Insert favorite music here> ..." And the f ... ing computers will all do that for me in a sec ... :)

Dreaming on ... ;)

So don't worry, Adrian: there are still the Wednesday meals ... ;)
adrianlondon
Thanks everyone for turning up tonight. Sorry that my Chinese pirate Black Adder DVD collection had the episodes in a rather confusing order.

Serene thanks for your fantastic Singaporean cuisine; I hope to sample much more of your repertoire.

jkodok thanks for turning up to your first TT event laden with tasty food for 10 people that you didn't know, and your boyfriend for the Himalayan mineral water. I don't understand German but babelfish translates the label as "youthful cherry intact Indian female aqua infusion".

j.canada is a muffin machine. I've never known anyone able to bake 50 muffins in one night before. Hero.

Mayfly - thanks for providing so much beer that the organisers of the Munich Octoberfest can only look on with envy.

And it only took me 1.5 hours to tidy the flat. Thank the good Lord for dishwashers. This was a great night and I hope to do it again regularly.
mayfly
Hi ,yeah it was a great evening .the food and the cupcakes were very delicious.the company like always pretty funny.
tatjana
oh no!!! i can't believe i missed a black adder night!!! sad.gif Adrian, let me know if you ever get the urge for another, i'd be more than happy to cook or bake smile.gif
adrianlondon
Already sent you a message. There will be another one tomorrow; I'm just trying to sort out the logistics before creating the event. Unfortunately, I've no way of contacting Rebecca who yesterday said she'd bake a plum pie. And I need plum pie! Or at least Sera does, otherwise she's binning 1Kg of plums bought as souvenirs from Munich ...
tatjana
you mean the sour plums?? what the schwaben call zwetchgen? in the supermarket you can buy a mix for the cake 'crust' for zwetchgen kuchen (plum cake) which shouldn't be too difficult.

just a suggestion... smile.gif i'll bring a spinach-feta strudel and maybe a second with either apple or savoury filling depending on what's needed...
adrianlondon
Nope, just normal plums. I was joking about them being souvenirs. Sera obviously hadn't been out with me, Wendy and Imran before as she bought plums thinking she might get hungry during the day. We then proceeded to spend most of our day in Munich eating and drinking ;)
