Hi everyone,

I'm hosting another Black Adder and home-cooking night at my place*. This Tuesday. This time the cooking theme is baking.

Please let me know if you're interested in coming. I can only host limited numbers so apologies for acting like some fascist bouncer but there's a chance not everyone will be able to come. Last time I simply accepted people in the order they posted, but that meant only those who, like me, could piss away hours surfing the net at work were able to come. This time, I'll prioritise those who didn't come last week. But I can still host 10-12 people so you have a good chance! Please post here.

I'll be there and I've got some alcohol (mainly beer and whiskey! Separate, don't worry) left over from last week. Serene is baking a quiche. Sera is providing the plums. Tatjana is baking maybe two strudels - one savoury one sweet. Rebecca (I hope she or her boyfriend posts! Those no-mobile-phone people...) promised to turn the plums into a pie. Can anyone else bake a plum pie??

Please let me know if you want to come. Please bring (just a small amount!) of soft drinks or anything you'd like unless it's beer and/or whiskey, in which case you don't need to bring anything. I also have a 2 litre bottle of coke, actually.

There will be a 5 EUR charge to cover the ingredients. Unless you're one of the guest chefs, in which case please let me know roughly how much you spent and I'll reimburse what I can. Sound ok?

Sorry this is such a long winded event invitation; any questions please ask. If you're coming, then I'll let you know my address if you don't know it.

* Which is, apparently, in Stuttgart Sud. I thought it was Stuttgart Zentrum and popular opinion was that it was actually Stuttgart West. But Beetle settled the argument with a map. Smart.

Sounds good! smile.gif Will be there with my "Jamie Oliver" inspired quiche! wink.gif
jaketrit
sounds good, hopefully we won't be at home to mr. cock-up
mckenna
hellooooooo - i know i was there last week, but are there still spots for this time? just can't seem to get enough of you guys! smile.gif i can offer my services to help bake or can bring the 5 euros.
WinerDiner
I didn´t come last time but I cannot bake to save my life. However I could bring a couple of bottles of wine.

Bill
Sera
See you guys there tomorrow!
adrianlondon
WinerDiner - wine is good! And then you can dine ;)

To everyone - you don't need to bring food; just 5 euro to cover costs. But I'm still short a plum pie maker! Otherwise I'll have to do it myself, and the results are not guaranteed ;)
woo
at the risk of whoring myself socially again can i graciously put myself at the back of the queue, ready to swoop in if people dont come? (unlikely and no, ive never done anything graciously in my life)
Beetle
I fear I won't be able to make this again. Poop.
And I am missing to opportunity of plum pie. Life is unfair.
adrianlondon
It wouldn't be a proper TT event without you, Woo! And Beetle - you're missing everything! Get your act together and tell your boss what they're making you miss ;)
Hin
can't make it tomorrow evening. Hopefully next time with a asian theme like bubble tea. Have fun
stgtLainey
Pooh! Have to work til 9:00 this and next Tuesday.

Oh well, have fun nonetheless.

Later,

I'd be in, me and my 5 Euros, Adrian .. smile.gif ... still I don't know the address of your place ... (PM?)
adrianlondon
Hin - sorry you can't make it. Attempting bubble tea would be fun. I'll try and get the sago when I'm back in London this weekend. Lainey!! :( You can pop over any time; it'll go on til late. Of course you'll miss most of the food but you can still drink and be merry ;)

Wolf - pm sent.
mayfly
Hi , so wrote you a sms before that i come too.
Should i bring some soft drinks or water???
jaketrit
I just found out that I have 34€ on my meal card that won't be refunded, so if my cafeteria is open when I get home I'll come bearing lots of coke/choclate/etc. Take that, Kolpinghaus!
adrianlondon
ok, then you're invited, Jake ;) Bring cake! Actually, bring some savoury stuff too if there's a choice. I already have a two litre bottle of coke that I think you brought last time.

Mayfly - you don't need to bring water, I am proud to announce that Adrian's Place has tap water which is perfectly drinkable. Please bring some fruit juice. Thanks!

Sera - I have a plum cooker! Her name is Serene ;) She will be baking plum crumble. Yumm! If you could pop over before 8 (maybe about 7;30?) with the plums that would be perfect.

I've had no response from our lurker "plum pie" newbies, so unfortunately they won't be coming. As I've now said "yes" to everyone who asked me that they wanted to come. I just can't say no.

If theres still space id like to come. I cant bake worth shit but i do have 5 euro. I can bring drinks or could buy something if anyone can suggest something.

adrianlondon
Hi Suchen - I'm already up to 12 people I'm afraid and my apartment can't handle any more. It can't really handle 12 but some can dangle off the balcony ...

I'm really sorry. You get a priority queue-jump ticket for next Tuesday though!
suchen
no problem. perhaps next event.

Have a good time all.
Sera
Hi Adrian, I will be there at about 7:30
I am so glad Serene steeped in, otherwise we would have to microwave the plums!

As soon as i get my apartment sorted I could host a cooking/movie night if we need more room. (there's still boxes abound, and no kitchen table at the moment.)

I'll have to get in on one of these Blackadder viewings. I've never seen the show but after searching youtube for a few minutes I'm convinced that it's up to my standards for nutty british Comedies.

I was going to offer to bake some brownies this time since everone's bringing dessert, but it's looks as though it has filled up.
adrianlondon
Sorry ;( You can get two priority tickets for next Tuesday - one for you and one for the brownies ;)
adrianlondon
Thanks everyone for the lovely food; it's really appreciated. If only people could get more of it in their mouths instead of dripping it on the sofa, carpet, bathroom, floor ... I love rented apartments ;)
wolfgangstuttgart
Thanks a lot to the cooks for the excellent quiche (which really was not Lorraine), and the general cultural update on good cakes. Kudos also to Adrian, the host: the stout was fine .. ;)
adrianlondon
Wonderful cheesy toasted bread (that was really delicious!), the quiche, the strudels, the plum pie ... Special thanks to this week's guest chefs Serene, Tatjana, Rebekka, Mckenna. Thanks again to Ines for filling my apartment with drinks; Sera for the plums especially imported from exotic Munich, Jake for somehow getting more cornettos into my freezer than physics said would fit (although physics occasionally fought back) and ... everyone else.

Somewhere under a pile of pastry flakes is my camera. Once I find it and upload the photos I'll let you all know.

Oh, and welcome to Guinness, Mr Wolf!

Sorry about the mess Adrian! But thank you so much once again for organizing this, and opening ur kitchen to us. smile.gif
Sera
Thanks Adrian for hosting. I'll help with clean-up next time. Thanks Serene, Tatjana, Rebecca and Mckenna for cooking, I really enjoyed the meal. You know you are welcome to practice your cooking skills at my place anytime smile.gif
adrianlondon
Odd though it may seem, I actually prefer to clean up myself. So no help needed!
