Interested in getting together to discuss books in Karlsruhe?
There are two of us so far, and we're just starting off, so your input or meeting times or for the reading list is very welcome.
You can contact me here.

An update on the planning -
At the moment, the first book is to be "The Memory Keeper's Daughter". We're now up to 6 potential members but would naturally welcome your participation as well. We're currently working on setting a date for a first coordination meeting (schedule setting, etc.)

Hi,
Thanks for the invite

I'd be interested in joining the book club. Please mail me further details. I've just moved to Karlsruhe so where can one buy that book in Karlsruhe or is it possible to borrow?

I am interested in joining a book club, however not sure how much time I have as I am studying and working too. I have read 'The Memory Keepers Daughter' at the beginning of the year so have an available copy.

Hello
I would love to join a book club. I'm an avid reader and would also like to meet some new people. If the club is up and running I'd really appreciate hearing more about it. I've read "The Memory Keeper's Daughter". Hope to hear from you : )

For those who do not already know, the American Library (
www.amerikanische-bibliothek.de) in the KA Nordstadt is a good place to meet others interested in English literature.
The library dates from the time that it was part of the former Smiley Barracks and is quaintly “old-fashioned”, quite large and the staff are friendly and helpful. The books are mostly American and somewhat aged. CDs, DVDs and even good old video cartridges and records can be borrowed. It is well-worth a visit.
Of course, most local German libraries have a selection of English books and other publications. Newspapers and magazines can be read in the KA Stadtbibliothek.

HI there,
I'm a newbie to Karlsruhe. I'd be interested in joining in on social events, maybe even possibly a book club. Where is the best place to buy English books in Karlsruhe?

If you enter „Buchhandlung Karlsruhe“ in Google, you will find a list of book shops and stores in Karlsruhe. Almost all have at least some English books.
The Thalia shops can be recommended. They have a good range of English books, CDs and DVDs (and a café):
- Thalia book shop, Kaiserstrasse (there are two separate shops)
- Thalia book shop in the „Ettlinger Tor“ shopping centre

Where is the best place to buy English books in Karlsruhe?
I have about 10 banana boxes of English books I want to sell. Would not be worth making a list because there must be well over 400 books. I have just finished the shopaholic series - anyone interested?
Just message me if you want more information.
I did buy The Memory Keeper's Daughter on Ebay, thinking of joining the book club for that book. I still haven't read it, though. Did anyone ever meet up?

Hi,
The woman with whom I had been corresponding on couch surfing dropped off the radar (as I have here, I am afraid) - but there were 3 of my acquaintance who've read the book in the mean time. I am still game - and flexible as long as it's evenings.

ps - I am activating the notification of replies so I should be more active when there is further discussion on the thread from here on out.
