Hello Stuttgart crew,
I went to the onion festival with some of you Toytown members the other weekend and had a great time (me: Matt with shoulder length blond hair, beard, sideburns)... so I wanted to clue you all in to the annual free music festival occurring next weekend at the Laboratorium at Wagenburgstr. 140, 70186 Stuttgart. I've heard from a co-worker that the music is usually pretty good and the atmosphere is alot of fun. They have live music going Friday evening, and Saturday and Sunday afternoon through evening. You can check out the Laboratorium here:
http://www.laboratorium-stuttgart.de/and the lineup of bands for the weekend here:
https://secure.tapeaffairs.de/laboratorium/...senProgramm.phpThey all have websites where you can get a sample of their music. I'm definitely going at some point and maybe multiple times during the weekend, and Rebekka is as well. If anyone wants to go and/or has any personal preference on the bands (the last band Friday night with the Eastern European swing/ska feel sounds pretty good to me), leave a post, and we'll coordinate a meeting. I really have no idea whether the venue is conducive to dancing, sitting and chatting, ordering food or what, but I'll update after I've asked my co-worker.
Well, that's all the commentary I have... post away!

Well then,
I plan to show up around 7 PM on Friday to catch the tail end of the first act, which may be hit or miss. I'm sure with a bit of wandering and time everyone can find each other at the Lab (unless someone prefers to organize a meeting at a Bahn station somewhere). Hope to see you there.
am definately up for going but will have to meet you guys there as ive got to be somewhere else earlier on. i'll PM you my number and hopefully you can get in touch with yours so i can catch up with you both there

Right - this is at
Wagenburgstr. 147 and starts at 6pm. The second band of the night is at 8pm.
This is running in parallel with the wine festival event which I think we could go to after/during (depends on how good they are!) the second band. I'm definitely up for this, but the logistics of hitting wine as well as free music is still to be sorted ;) We can discuss that on the wine festival thread so that it's not duplicated here.

We formed a kind of plan last night.
I'll try to get to Lab around 7pm, same as straderm, to catch the end of the mongolians and get ready for the gypsies. After that, maybe around 9pm, we can move into central Stuttgart and check out the wine festival, marking the good spots ready for hitting the festival properly tomorrow (Saturday) evening.
So, meet at Lab from 6:30 to around 9pm tonight (Friday 29.Aug-2008). If you plan on arriving after then, call one of us first to see if we're still there or moving to the wine festival.

To make this whole thing even more complicated as it already is: The Lab festival this weekend is actually taking place at another location, too, namely at
Berger Sprudler, Unterer Schlossgarten, in a tent, IIUC. Program schedule for the latter events as for those in the Lab itself is on the
Lab site. Click "Programm" to see the schedule. Note the "Zelt bei den Berger Sprudlern" (Tent at the Berger Sprudler) line on the "Programm" page which tells the place of the event.
The events on the Lab festival might not be quite my cup of tea, but I might be joining if I know the TT guys will be there, too ... :)

Ooh! I totally missed that! What would we do without you Mr Wolf?? So it looks like the aforementioned horse fiddler (is that legal in Germany??) and the Gypsy a go-go will not be at the Lab, but at the Berger Sprudler, which according to the VVS website is closest to the Mineralbäder U-bahn stop. You can get there by taking the U1 or U2 and it's a 3 min walk.
Meanwhile back at the Lab it's skank, sweat n Ska...but with a 12 Euro cover.

Oh!
Well I'm going to save the 12 Euro (I thought this event was meant to be free??) and visit the free stuff.
Or is everyone else going to Lab and paying?

Nope , meet then in the Schlossgarten .

i will be out earlier than expected so prob see you all at schloss doo-dah nr min-bad :-)

It was
Club Schocken. My first time there and it was great fun; we had quite a bit of space upstairs which was perfect for me to practice my drunken shouting.

I'll be at the Sprudler/tent this Sunday, provided the weather's not too bad. Anyone else? Which time? - I don't think I'll be there before around 3 PM, or so...

You'll be in time for a bum bam bossa then ;)

13:30 not 3:30 Adrian. Look at the numbers. You're in mainland Europe now. No bum bamming for us; not in public, anyway.
I'm going to watch Los Gigantes at 5:30pm. See you there!
How to find the tent ... go to the grill area in the Schlossgarten. Keep walking (away from the town centre, i.e. towards Bad Cannstatt) for a few minutes, and the tent is on your right up a hill.
It's the white blob
here.
