(Sorry Adrian, but I was laid up over the weekend at home where I still don't have internet thanks to my tenuous relationship with the German postal system.)
Xavier has kindly offered to make French food and I have evilly offered to host it (since I enjoy making everyone climb five flights of stairs -- why should you escape if I can't?)
Please post here (or PM me if shy) if you're up for it. Xavier will decide the menu tonight based on level of interest.

"Hello, post office? I've just sent another email. Please arrange collection from my printer. Oh, and have you got a delivery from
www.eastgermansluts.com for me yet?"
Ah yes, where was I ... I'll be attending this event!

I'm afraid there won't be any Frogs (anyway I don't really like it) or Snail (I love it !!), except if I could find some fresh ones in Stuttgart, but my chances are evaluated as near from 0%...
I'll try to find something vegetarian, but that couldn't be a real french speciality

!!
I also hope that you like cheese and wein ^^, some Crepes, Quiche Lorraine and Tartiflette with a Tarte Tatin to end the meal ... Got I will need a lot of time, we will eat around 22 H^^

I had great snails at the Sindelfingen street festival a few months ago. This was on the Alsace stall although I don't know if they brought them from France or sourced them here. I like Burgundy snails the best, and obviously they are not found much around here ;)
I can contribute some ingredients, just tell me what to buy.

Is it ok if Fred and I bring some cheese over to join the French dinner at your place Rowhan?

I could come over to give some help if the kitchen need me to wash the dishes. Hahahaha!

I just have one very very little problem : I don't have time to go shopping tonight!! So if someone could buy for me :
- 3-4 KG potatoes (I'd rather have too much than not enough)
- Some Onions
- 1L (or 1 KG) fresh cream
- 3L Milk
- 1 Kg of "piece of chopped beacon (according to wordreference, LARDONS in french!! ^^)
- 12 eggs
- 1,5 - 2Kg of Flour
- 500gr sugar
- 500gr butter
So if someone is volunteer, just tell us!!
I will buy the other things (cheese, and some other little things) tomorrow on the way between work and rowan's place!
And those who want to help cooking are welcome!

We now have eggs flour sugar and the rest of the stuff Xavier mentioned (I thought I might as well pick up everything I could so we're sure of having it tomorrow in time!)
I thought I would try to pick up some cidre bouché but a) I think that's only if you're making crepes and

I couldn't find any anyway.

Round of applause to Xavier for producing vast quantities of excellent nosh despite the primitive cooking facilities available (including liberal use of the floor for setting down serving dishes).
Also for buying us tubs of smelly cheese and some really really good French wine. The evening was a great reminder of the many positive aspects of the existence of France.
Liana made not one, not two, but THREE (count them three) of her famous pies, including the elusive pecan pie (the mutant ward gave it three thumbs up).
In other news, Mckenna has kindly offered to do the next dinner in two weeks time. Over to you mickey k.

I ate so much. Xavier, the food and the wine were fantastic.
And I had nine slices (slithers, if I want to be kind to myself) of pie, which I learnt consisted of nothing but sugar, lard and flour. And some pecans. I'm so healthy.

mmmm, seconded! food was yummy (hence my four plate fulls and resultant stomachache today) and pies were amazing...suggggggar! dunno what to plan for the next round seeing as how i come from the land of hamburgers, hot dogs and mac 'n' cheese. i'll think on it.
yup.. thirded (thats a new word btw)
really delicious food... i could get used to having everyone cook for me except myself (which only results in food poisoning)
am hoping there is still room in the belly for 3 mass and half a vegetarian chicken today...

(Sorry Adrian, but I was laid up over the weekend at home ...
The cartoons reminded me of a Gary Larson cartoon which I tried unsuccessfully to find. However I did find
this.
Thought it might come in handy next time you are laid up.
Oh and on occasion I do wish I were living in the Capital. The food get-togethers sound great.
