BILD.com, the English language version of BILD.de, one of Germany's leading news and entertainment portals, is giving budding journalists the opportunity to learn the ropes of online tabloid journalism.

There won't be any tea-making involved - you will be hands on writing stories about news, celebrity and sport everyday, as a fully integrated member of the team.

You will also learn about the online business, including SEO, online marketing and various other skills to equip you for a career in journalism.

You will also be required to have a good knowledge of German, to be able to translate stories from German to English.

With BILD being the biggest selling tabloid in Europe, an internship at BILD.com is sure to look great on your CV. However, we will also be looking to take on our interns after 3 months on freelancer contracts, if you succeed in proving yourself to be a great addition to the team.

The internship will start asap, full time for 3 months (plus two days holiday a month). The salary is 400 Euros per month. Our offices are located at the Axel Springer headquarters in Berlin.

If you think you could make an impact at BILD.com and are up for the challenge of online tabloid journalism, please send an email to jobs@the-avastar.com with your CV (in English or German).

To be fair, the OP states explicitly that it's "tabloid journalism". Wonder if the OP knows what that means in English. Next stop, the Weekly World News.

It doesnt seem that bad of an opportunity to get your feet in the door, if thats your thing - I might even apply myself

Having a good knowledge of German to translate into English..Mmm..difference of opinion here, does 'good German' contstitute all the awful slang and idioms that the rag uses? I dont see that as good German

You'll have to alliterate. If you had to look that up, look for another job.
lightcycle
you'll pardon my ignorance, but isn't €400 per month criminally low for a full time job?
Deccie
It is not a full time job, the OP specifically state it is an internship.

from Wiki....

QUOTE
An intern or stagiaire is one who works in a temporary position with an emphasis on on-the-job training rather than merely employment, making it similar to an apprenticeship. Interns are usually college or university students, but they can also be high school students or post graduate adults seeking skills for a new career. Student internships provide opportunities for students to gain experience in their field, determine if they have an interest in a particular career, create a network of contacts, or gain school credit. Internships provide the employers with cheap or free labor for (typically) low-level tasks (stereotypically including fetching coffee for the office), and also the prospect of interns returning to the company after completing their education and requiring little or no training.

Reading is fundamental.

Who can live on €1200 for three months? This is a shit job for a shit rag which is regularly called out for its abject lying and which has, on at least one occasion in recent memory, been forced to dedicate the entire front page to a retraction in 72-point type. Unlike other tabloids (like the US' National Enquirer which broke a legit story about holier-than-thou Palin's daughter being knocked up, Bild just keeps making shit up. Luckily there's BildBlog.de to call them out for it.

woof.

Lot of people in Berlin actually. Time to go back to the guilded doghouse perhaps? This is not the first i400 yoyo nternship advertised here by Springer concerns. Why the sudden interest?

mate, if rent at the very least costs you €250 per month, you're going to be living very lean on €400.

If you're working full time (with two days holidays per month -generous!) then you deserve to be living better than a street person. that's all.

I wasn't for a minute suggesting that it was a good thing - or indeed with the prevalence of 400 yoyo jobs in Berlin something that Germany as a nation should be proud of ...

Sadly there are enough people out there desperate enough to make exploitation such as this feasible. Hence, 400 yoyos per month as an INTERNSHIP would not be considered freakishly low within the 'Berlin econonmy', as the relatively well paid IT professional above has suggested.

That's right €400 for an intern position in Berlin is OK, if it is a stepping stone for you. What's is not so great is that some organisations in Berlin survive from interns, taking on 4 at a time and then not giving any of them a job at the end of 6 months. In the UK volunteer/intern work can often turn into a job. I've done a few several month work stints for nothing in my time and they have often produced a a good result - either with a job or helping me to get a place on a postgrad course with full scholarship, but I also once worked for a major academic library here in Berlin for 11 months and didn't manage to get reasonable job out of it at the end. The private sector is a much better bet here.
