Italian meal in Stuttgart at Vapiano

This Wedneday's meal will be at Vapiano.

I like this place as it's very informal, cheap, and with tasty simple Italian food. They do pasta, pizza and salads only.

I don't think it's possible to book here, so just turn up and find us spread over a few tables upstairs. Turn up whenever you like (I did say it was informal). I'll be there at 8.

For those who've never been before ("Have you been to a Harvester before?") ... you queue up at one of a line of "chefs", pick what you want, and they cook it for you while you wait. You then swipe your charge card (they give you one on the way in) and take your food away on a tray. Drinks, pizza, salad, pasta all at different counters. So if you wanted pasta with a salad, some pizza and a beer you're going to spend the whole night standing in queues. But, really, it's very good.

This place may be slow (never been there myself) but then who wants fast food? After all, 'Va piano' means 'Goes slowly'.

Only getting the meal might take a little time ... the place itself was a very busy one, when I was there: And urban, fast. Anything but "slow" ... Meantime one my favorite places in Stuttgart ...

I am registered on the facebook group "Stuttgart Expat Meetups" but always forget to look here to see what is going on so I missed my chance for tonight. I've never met up with you guys before but I will be sure to keep my eyes peeled for upcoming events on both this website and facebook...

Thanks everyone for turning up, including our two newbies. For an informal event, where you simply had to turn up when you felt like it and grab a table somewhere, I think it went well. It certainly made it easier for me, as I didn't need to guess numbers and make a booking ;)

Next week's event is likely to be similar (as I'm not around much to organise it, and the place I currently want to go to doesn't take bookings as it's almost cafe-like).
