Hey folks,
I'm an amature comic artist/writer trying to get my work published here in Berlin. I've writen a few local publishers but haven't had any success to date. I'd appreciate any advice on getting my foot in the door of the comic world, and it's always nice to meet people who share a passion for fantasy style art.

Are there any comic publishers in Berlin? You could try contacting them too.

I've writen three publishers (comics and graphic novels) and only one answered, and they didn't like my style.
I presume your style is US-style which you should not assume goes down in Europe in general. The above goes part way to prove it.
There was an example within my company a few years ago (a global computer manufacturer). To get a "message" across a 1-page US-style cartoon was produced which had the opposite effect to that intended in Europe (in APAC they just shook their heads & ignored).

Save some money and create your own Zine.

that could be the case, though there is quite a large fanbase for american comics here in germany, just look at any comic shop or book store and you'll find all the popular Marel and DC comics, and less known titles as well. Good feedback though, HEM... infact the publisher that did respond said my work was great but didn't fit their realistic franco-belgian style themes.

Exactly so if you want to continue along your route and do not want to compromise your style or integrity then dont. The Zine will be your answer. I come from Portland Oregon where the zinemarket has flourished and because of this you see more artist. Also subsquently more artist are finding their work being picked up and distrubuted. I actually came across a zine that started out about two artist from Wichita Falls ...WICHITA FALLS!!! My birth town and of all places I found it in Zürich Switzerland!
