MYTH Theatre, a relatively new english language theatre company in Munich, will be having it's premiere of Rob John's thought provoking play "Living with Lady Macbeth" on October 10th (7 and 9pm) and October 17th (7 and 9pm) at the Amerika Haus (Karolinenplatz 3).
Recent violence has spread all over the world and reached classrooms. Columbine or Erfurt are just two examples. Normally such tragic actions are conducted by boys-imagine if a girl comes into action.
Usually girls in a drama group are cool, pretty, and exciting. Or they think they are. Now imagine you are dull, unattractive, untalented, and totally ordinary. Quite a frustrating thought. Your hero is Lady Macbeth. You start to learn the lines, you understand her feelings, you almost act like a lady and are about to plan murder. No one believes you, neither your boyfriend nor your teacher. Just your loyal shortsighted friend sticks to you and even plans revenge. Will you succeed?
As Rob John himself says, his best lines are those of Shakespeare, yet this is another approach of traditional English literature. One sees Lady Macbeth as a role model for two shy girls and Macbeth as the realization of an ideal partner. The play helps to focus on those aspects of "Macbeth" which are still up to date; development of characters with their intimate desires and hopes. Only this time the heroes do not die...
