Do you know where to buy Dulce de Leche (confiture de lait en français) in Munich?
Thanks

I ain't quite sure, if it's the same thing, but I saw sweet condensed milk in the Shanghai market in Hohenzollernstrasse (Schwabing). Maybe I am just mixing things up, but in Brazil they have a desert called "doce de leite" which consists purely of sweetened condensed milk. smile.gif

you can boil condensed milk in the can for a few hours and you get a very sweet caramel brown pudding sort of thing that is quite yummy. The longer you boil it the firmer it gets.

If you can't find it, try gourmet places like the one on Marienplatz.
If you're not in a hurry, I can also bring you some real honest-to-god argentinian Dulce de Leche (Havanna brand) back from Portugal after christmas.
My girlfriend lived in Argentina for a year, and I visited her for two months. We learned how to make Alfajores, acquired a taste for Yerba Mate, the works.
LMK if you find it, we might also want it in the future. As the other poster said, though, it's also easy to roll your own.

This stuff is available at the French cheese shop on Elisabethmarkt. Sweetened condensed milk is something entirely different, search for that and you'll find threads on it.

Manufactum, near Dallmayr at Marienhof, have a good range of posh spreads including creme caramel. Chestnut and vanilla. Ohhhh.

The Mexican store in Schulstr. Neuhausen also sells this stuff. Easily made yourself as listed above too.

Dulce de Leche originates from Argentina. You can buy it at the Mercado Latino hut in Viktualienmarkt. The brand they usually have is San Ignacio, which is pretty good. The alternative is to make it yourself from condensed milk, but of course it is not as yummy...
