No chance at all, they are excluded.
Wheel
The answer is: it depends. Here's the updated info, but it only covers apartments, not WGs. Read in conjunction with this document (PDF) which is in English but apart from the rents I think it's up to date.

@sarabyrd

Not sure what that link says, but the ARGE will certainly pay rent for a claimant subject to the conditions in the docs I linked to. Unless I've missed something about the original question.

My answer would have been similar to SBs, as I googled the term "housing assistance" and it seems to describe something similar to "Wohngeld", which is payed to people with low income by the city of Munich and is not payed to people who already get support through Hartz IV.
Wheel
Housing assistance doesn't look like the correct term. Google for artbeitslosengeld ii muenchen and go from there.

Why did that person say they are excluded? A single person does receive money for their apartment/living arrangement when they recieve ALG II.
sushified
But if you are asking if they receive money from a third party when they are already receiving money from ALG II, then no. Anyone who is receiving social money, or ALG II, is also entitled to money for their living arrangements. They have strict rules on how large the apartment is, and the price of the rent without heating costs. You receive heating costs on top of that. A small portion of the heating costs is not paid, because there are costs included in the normal money that cover 'hot water'. There is only a simple application to fill out. And yes, it is very easy. You must only give a two-page paper to your renter with questions and information to fill out, and this is giving back to social office in your area. A copy of the rent contract is also required. Sometimes they want to look at the apartment, but a single person in a small apartment should not have very many problems.

If you lose your anspruch off ALG II for violating their rules of conduct, but are between the ages of 18-25, they will still pay your apartment/heating costs, but directly to your renter.

Ab 01.01.2005 sind Personen nicht mehr antragsberechtigt, die eine staatliche Sozialleistung beziehen, die auch die Kosten der Unterkunft enthält.

Das sind insbesondere Empfänger von
Grundsicherung
Arbeitslosengeld II
Sozialgeld und
Hilfe zum Lebensunterhalt nach dem Zwölften Buch Sozialgesetzbuch.

(from my link)
Since 1 May 2005 people already receiving social benefits which also include housing costs are not entitled to apply (for Wohngeld).

These expressly includes recipients of

...
Arbeitslosengeld II
...
Wheel
That doesn't mean they don't pay any rent. Wohngeld is something else entirely.

The benefits cover the livelihood-securing need. This corresponds to the current Munich social-security level. The need will be determined for each family member:

Normal benefit rate for
adult, single person:...345 €
Normal benefit rate for
two adult partners:...311 € each
Normal benefit child (0-14 years)...207 €
Normal benefit young persons (15-18 years):...276 €

plus appropriate rent and heating.
In exceptional cases there are one-off benefits. After receiving ALG I there is another limited surcharge.

From the document (PDF) I linked to earlier.
sarabyrd
Wohngeld is a housing assitance payment.

Why would someone already recieving money need more money for their apartment? It's already paid for!
potato
i was asking about what wheel is talking about. only the money AG pays to help pay rent. i had, and still have no clue about this "wohngeld"...

thanks,

Perhaps because the 345 eur a person would get each month is for food and other basic items..
It is not meant to pay rent..
sarabyrd
Now that your question is clearer: Does your friend have a Bescheid with the amount received? If so your best bet is getting in touch with the Sachbearbeiter, his contact, and asking for details just what the amount includes. The rent covered by the ARGE depends on the condition, equipment and size of the apartment and the numbers of people in the household.

Are we talking about the same thing? I was speaking from ALG II benefits.

Of course the 351 euros is for food and basics, not rent. They pay your rent on top of that. You only have to have the apartment meet their regulations (not hard) and give them a copy of the renting contract.

Those other numbers quoted by Wheel have nothing to do with ALG II. The benefits are different. 351 is the normal benefit, but for example if you are 18-25 years old you receive only 271 euros. With kids you get the normal amount plus more.
