I think its been raining solid for the last 4 hours or so ... albeit not very heavily ... i only brought shorts and a t-shirt ... can folks skinnydip in the Isar ?
*

hell, today it looks like you could skinnydip in the grass area and still be fully submerged! This is gonna be good. Especially the ride home on the kuh-bahn and s-bahn.
mybutterfly
wow you guys are game! if izabella is showing up then i'll have to come as well. but i don't want to get my sneakers all wet...and i think i'm opting to be on the black team...
BostonSportsFan
mybutterfly: Definitely show up! This is going to be a BLAST! Just imagine how far one can slide when diving for a disc... hell, I'm going to be sliding for the simpliest catches just because it will be fun!
benpanter
@BSF: Don't you always do that? I know I do biggrin.gif
BostonSportsFan
Busted! ph34r.gif
ibskiboy
Sorry ladies and gents, I'll meet up on Sunday instead of today. Honestly, not weather related! Have fun!
davo
Unfortunately, I'm starting to feel kinda crappy, so I'm gonna pass on tonight.

Have fun all!
parnell
I've just been outside for a walkaround and the grass is absolutely waterlogged.
greg
and it will be later frisbeelogged!
BostonSportsFan
parnell: That just makes it more fun! Game on.
mybutterfly
i have had the laziest day of my life and enjoying every second of it. Looking forward to getting the blood pumping, but oh does it look cold out there. Abbey and I will be there.
lars
Me too *shiver*...
mybutterfly
i keep checking the forum to see if the game is still on. i don't really want to go, is everyone really going? its 5:30 and pouring!!!
BostonSportsFan
Oh, c'mon, we have to play today!! You know you want to...

If this game doesn't happen, you are all the biggest group of hypocrits ever :-P
benpanter
Rain has stopped in Garching, should have stopped in city by six. I've just been to collect my car and found it needs more work (hence didn't drive home and not driving tonight). Will be late, but happy to come as long as I'm not going to be a billy nae mates?
scotsman
There's no way you can play in that rain. The ground will be totally waterlogged. however, there is the possibility to make some spectacular diving catches followed by a 30m slide straight into the endzone!!
BostonSportsFan
I'm inspired by the stopping of rain in Garching. I don't know what a billy nae is, but i'm catching the 5:55 bus from Universität that'll get to there a few minutes past six. SEE YOU PEOPLE THERE.

@scotsman: genau! perfect weather!
mybutterfly
okay okay..let's do it!! quick before i change my mind.
scotsman
I hope you were joking BSF but just incase you weren't. Billy Nae mates is the way someone says Billy No-Mates in dialect if they have a very strong Scottish accent.
lars
I am on my way - will be 15 mins late as well.
Izabella
sh!t. i just woke up from a rain induced nap. how annoying... was looking forward to mud fights. argh. mad.gif
parnell
uhhh ... i went home early to get a change of gear and thought i could catch 40 winks ... next thing i know it's midnight ... sorry folks.
BostonSportsFan
That was an excellent game. We played 4v4 and there was plenty of sliding (or slamming into the ground... or wretching of limbs...). Wasn't even raining by gametime!
Abs
That was a super fun game and adventure everyone! I'm glad I opted for the mud-sliding entertainment and random noises over the massage, however, the massage is coming soon... I can feel it. Hint hint! wink.gif
benpanter
What a great game! I'll try to remember my shorts next time though so I don't look like an absolute Gumby.

You'll notice that Editor Bob has split us into a current thread and an archive thread - great, just don't worry if your posts disappear - they still exist, just in the archive.

See you all on Sunday. My long range weather predicting radar suggests we will be moving to the Dietlindenstrasse venue...
chewy
Anyone else fancy throwing a disc around in the gardens tomorrow (friday) about 5ish?
benpanter
@chewy: maybe. I think I'll still be in work till 7ish though...
jip
if there is enough interest I'd be in... but it'd have to be a little later in the day as I don't get off of work until sometime between 4:30 and 6:30 (depending on how much work my boss wants me to get done)...

Whats say we call it 6:30pm in the garden? Nothing too agressive in terms of game play and bring a change of cloths and hit up a pub/garten when done? I would also schlag vor, that we maybe use the new location since Friday is looking damn nice and those crazy (football/soccer) players might infest the garden like a plague again, wreaking havoc on all who hold frisbees holy.

And what is this about massages? Shouldn't the winning team get a round? tongue.gif If so, I'm calling BSF and Ben on my team!

Can we get a roll call for people up for tomorrow evening? As it's an extra date, it'd be nice to have at least a little bit of an idea of how many people to expect... and who will bring a disc... (kinda helps... just ask BSF or Chewy).
Izabella
i've got a disc and if the weather is as nice tomorrow as it is today i'm def up for it
chewy
6:30 would be cool by me. i'll try and pm some of hte others as well. i dont have a disc, so cant bring one!
jip
yo BSF, I saw you reading a second ago, get yo' butt back in here and get your meld an!
BostonSportsFan
I'm up for it if I'm available. Guys from work back home are in town for a conference, which means I have a chance to earn some much needed beer money. No idea what my schedule will be like tomorrow. I'd say most likely I'm in, but no guarentees.

@jip I'll meld an whenever I'm good and ready to meld an!
chewy
we could head to dielentenstraße (i cant spell) if its busy? i guess we have to see what the weather is like b4 we can say where thu. Anyone know where jayhay is?
roots
I need to move my body a bit with all the beer I am drinking. I might join in.

I am an Ultimate Frisbee virgin so may be Izabella will teach me a trick or two tongue.gif
chewy
Ok, just realised why i said 5, cos ive gotta be somewhere else at 7! So i guess i cant really make it for 6:30! I can make for 5 if anyone intrestes still thu.
jip
Ok, I'm thinking there will be a problem w/ the player count tomorrow, so I'd say scrap it... too many people needing to be other places at different times. Oh well...

See ya'll Sunday.
CodeRed
So...is this fun?

Seriously?
BostonSportsFan
Yes, it is. A ton. Seriously.

the name says it all... it's Ultimate! You'd never think throwing a frisbee around could be this much fun, but in all seriousness, it's a game anyone of any skill level can get into and really enjoy. It's not a hardcore workout unless you make it one, and yet, you still get a good workout without really noticing it. Com'on out on Sunday and let the good times fly!
benpanter
@CodeRed: It is, but you really shouldn't take the word of any of us frisbee transfixed muppets - come along and try it! There is no pressure to turn up again if you don't want to and everyone is friendly. We generally start by throwing a frisbee around in a small then big circle for about 20 minutes to warm up and have a natter. If you're a bit worried about throwing accurately, we can certainly help you with that. Alternativly, if you see someone doing a throw and think, "I wish I could do that!", just ask and they'll show you.

We then move into a game situation for about an hour. Until now we've always had just one big game going on but I think we now have the numbers to have two games running concurrently... one with the frisbee nuts and the other with those who'd like to take it a bit slower. This is of course all dependent on how many people make it along to sessions, and what they want to do.

After all this we tend to go to either a biergarden or a pub for a pint...

Like I said, it's great fun, but don't take my word for it -- come down and try!
Abs
Oh yes, it is a blast! We will be psyched to meet you!
benpanter
...and just in case like me you have no idea what Abs meant by that, answers.com suggests that it means:

psyched (adjective)

Feeling a very strong emotion: a tingle, excited, fired up, thrilled, worked up. Slang stoked, turned-on. See excite/bore/interest.

rolleyes.gif
Abs
Oh my goodness, Ben! You must be kidding. Psyched is a fundamental expression in any person's dictionary... especially those who play sports
where scoring and team bonding is integral. biggrin.gif
BostonSportsFan
yeah, Ben, that really was ignant. Psyched? That's like not knowing what "crisps" are in British English! tongue.gif

Abs: don't listen to these British types wink.gif
jayhay
You Americans talk funny :-)
benpanter
I was only joking. I'll keep my crazy Brit humour to myself in future sad.gif
BostonSportsFan
We know Ben, I was joking too. I'll keep my crazy Ami humOR to myself in the future sad.gif

bwahahahahahaha... like we have ever cared about throwing accurately!

@Abs & BSF... Yeah, these brits haven't got a scooby about Ami slang by people under 25. tongue.gif But I think we can let them off the hook a couple times wink.gif
