Wish I could have come today, since I'm not much of an Oktoberfest fan anyway, but I seem to have caught a cold.

Have fun and catch you guys on Sunday!
For those keeping score at home: Despite all the Oktoberfest defections, we had a solid turnout and played 6-on-6 until we could barely see the disc. Since it's now getting dark a lot earlier, we have decided to move Wednesday sessions to 5:30pm. As for Sundays, the weather's been great for the last few weeks, so Sundays still seem OK at 4pm. Watch for changes onces temperatures start to decline.

I'm going to play, and I'm pretty sure that Arthur will be there, too. Who else took Cam's blood oath? I'll bet he's going to show today. One can't just publicly swear on a stack of frisbees like that and then blow it off.
Unfortunately, I had to return to Canda for a funeral, I should be back for next Wednesday.
My whole
frisbee / beer equilibrium has been thrown off this week.

Cam, sorry to hear that you've been deprived of both Bier and
frisbee. You'll be happy to know that there will still be plenty of both when you get back.
The next game is
Sunday at
4pm at the
Dietlindenstrasse location. Newcomers and refugees from Oktoberfest are welcome.

My condolences, Cam.
Not sure I'll make it to
frisbee tomorrow, we've got out-of-town company and I'm not sure I can convince them of Frisbee against all the hoopla in town. I'll cross my fingers.

Can't miss it today, it's my last game with you guys for a while, before I head back to Cairo on Friday. :-)
I think Wednesday's game set the record for the shortest player we have ever had. If anyone has any doubts about whether they are qualified to try Ultimate for the first time, we are now accepting applicants who are under three feet tall, provided that they are absolutely fearless about the possibility of being stepped on.
The next game is Sunday at 4pm at Dietlindenstrasse!

I've been down with a cold but I'm ready for
frisbee this Sunday.
Welcome back MandyNY!
The weather looks great today. Actually, amazingly great for October. Whoever is doing those sacrifices to the Ultimate Gods, please keep it up.
See you guys at 4.
As part of the continuing post-Ben shake-up, we decided yesterday to move next Sunday's game back to 3pm. And we will probably be moving Sunday games all the way back to 2pm in the near future.
The next game is Wednesday at 5:30pm at Giselastrasse.

Excellent game yesterday, I really enjoyed it.
Vlad, I'm hoping for a simple explanation of the 'Pick' rule you mentioned so that next time I know what I'm doing wrong ...
See you all on Wednesday!

If I was wanting to replace a lost
Frisbee ( I know it was not any old Frisbee) where would I be able to buy such a prized disk? I did not see the original so have know idea what to get.

Jayhay, picking and screening are not allowed in Ultimate. It is when you obstruct the movement of a player to their disadvantage. But you must realise that with so many people on the field running every direction that this can be misconstrued, so it usually would be called only when it is obvious or repetitive and definitely on purpose.

The size/weight depends what the frisbee was being used for. Discs for ultimate weigh 175g, normal freestyle discs are usually a bit lighter. Take a look here:
http://www.frisbeeshop.org/index.php?ref=1...ate_banner_id=4@ brokenm - Another player called this as a foul during a game, although it wasn't intentional. Rather than hold a seminar on the full rules, the UPA lists a simplified version 10-point version of the rules, which I think is most suitable for our level of game:

@jayhay
I wouldn't make intentional the criterium because in my experience it usually isn't. Still I wouldn't want to score because of a pick (or the other team to do so

). So e.g. if somebody goes long and I can't follow because sb. is in the way I wouldn't hesitate to call it

From the WFDF rules
"Picks: No player may establish a position, or move in such a manner, so as to obstruct the movement of any player on the opposing team. In the event of a pick, the obstructed player shall immediately call "Pick," loudly. Play shall then be stopped and be resumed only after a check, with the stall count resuming from the point of interruption or to five if the count is over five. "
Typically it happens when an offender crosses the way of another player and a following defender has to stop or change direction to avoid a collision. This can easily give the one on offence a couple of meters advantage and make him become wide open. In basketball it is a valid tactical move and you frequently see it, in ultimate it is not allowed.
More explanations tonight, I am coming !

Hey
frisbee fans!
This weekend's game will be at an earlier time. We'll be at
Giselastrasse for all games for the rest of 2006, since it's easier for most people to get to. We've also called the last Wednesday game for this coming week, since it's getting dark earlier and most people can't get to the field before 18:00.
08.10 - Giselastrasse - 15:00 (Sunday)
11.10 - Giselastrasse - 17:30 (last Wednesday for 2006)
15.10 - Giselastrasse - 14:00 (Sunday) ... all further Sunday games will stay at this time/location.
The forecast for Sunday is excellent, 18 degrees and sunny. See you there

Absolute beginners are more than welcome! We usually do a throw around for the first 20 minutes, so you'll get some practice in and the rules will be reviewed

Hello folks.
Just arrived from Chicago this week. Will be here for 6 months. I do play in Chicago leagues - I am alright at it (getting up there in my age;-)
Found you guys on Google. Quite excited to be able to join you guys. Only 1 tiny problem - NO idea about Munich YET. I'm staying in Munich Parlach (NH München am Ring on Ottobrunner Straße). Any idea how far the ground is?
Hopefully, I'll find you and play with you guys on Sunday.
Cheers,

The
U-Bahn from
Innsbrucker Ring to
Giselastrasse (
U2, change at
Sendlinger Tor,
U6) takes about twenty minutes. From U-Giselastrasse it's about 5 minutes on foot. Check the start of the thread for a map. See you tomorrow!

OK guys, just a reminder since we have changed both the time and the location of today's game (to maximize confusion): We are playing at
Giselastrasse at
3pm. Anyone who happens to be biking by
Dietlindenstrasse, please stop by the other field and pick up the stragglers. See you at 3!

hey everyone! i am new and munich and would love to join you all to play today. only problem is i dont know my way around. i live in
allach. can anyone give me directions?
hopefully see everyone today
Take the
S-Bahn to
Marienplatz. Switch to the
U6 going north ("
Garching-Hochbrück" or "
Fröttmaning" or just look for the soccer ball icon). Get off at
Giselastrasse. Then just walk east to the
English Garden and then through the trees to the big open field. The map at the top of the thread shows the exact place we play. It's pretty easy to find. See you!

It was great to have so many newcomers on Sunday! Next Sunday's game is happening at 2pm. Hopefully, starting an hour earlier will help us to grab more space. Incidentally, who's got the other set of cones?
Tomorrow's game will be the last Wednesday game of the year: Wednesday at Giselastrasse. Warm-ups start around 5:30pm. See you then!

I've got six of the cones and I'll be there tonight, can't wait.

I have the other 6 cones (which we did use on Sunday). It was good to see so many new faces. The group had some troubles playing together initialy since there were so many newbies, but people got into the swing of things pretty quickly. I don't think I'll be able to make it tonight, but will certainly be there next Sunday.

Hi everybody!! I've been sick but will turn up this Sunday for sure. Hopefully I won't have a raging hangover from Chachi's and my engagement party Saturday night.
