There are a couple of different fields at Dietlind.

A couple of the football players were a little gruff, but when I spoke to them they were friendly and civil and once we shortened our pitch there was no problem. There's always a lot of competition for space in that part of the EG and I can understand that everyone wants enough space to play their game.
Re:
Dietlindenstrasse ... I'd be interested to know which
frisbee group is playing there regularly on Sundays so we can avoid a clash. Does anyone know?

When I was on my way to Ultimate last Sunday, I passed by a group of people tossing discs around. So, I stopped thinking the TT group had changed location. After hearing only German, I was sure it wasn't the TT group. I paused though and chatted with a couple guys who said there were three groups playing. I believe all were from the WegWerfGesellshaft. I don't know if they meet there regularly or if it was just a one off. I checked their website, and nothing is mentioned about playing there. There being just across from the
Hirschau Beer Garden which is marked on the map as our 2nd playing location.
Regarding tonight, it looks like it will be a bit cool but the chances of rain are lessening. I'm still in for a good game.

Sunday's game will be at 14:00 at the Dietlindenstrasse location (see the spot marked "2" on the map at the start of the thread). Last week the park at
Giselastr. was really busy and the forecast for this Sunday is just as good. I'll be missing this one, have a good game!

At the beginning of Winter, when all 3-4 teams (WegWerfGesellschaft,
Studentenstadt, Uni-sport, and of course Toytown) were short on players (because so many wuss's who don't play when it's cold/wet), I organised for all teams to play together at what you know as the
Dietlindenstr. location. As summer starts, WWG now plays on Sundays at the Pinakothek, but in the evening, so some still join in at 14:00 in the
English gardens, and the remains of StuSta and Uni-sport also still play there.

I think there's a couple of Toytowners going to the Ochsencup in Hersching this Saturday. Any of you want to join up for an
MVV Gruppen Gesamtraum ticket? I propose leaving from
Karlsplatz Stachhus on the 07:26 S5

Just off the press - I couldn't find that thread which had been started before about the Ochsencup, so I'll post here for anyone who wanted to go to the tournament (this Saturday, whole day in Hersching - see

After a visit to the doctor today I've got a plastic splint over my right thumb: a small fracture.
I know this may be a sore point to many TT players, but sitting at the injured end, I would like to point out that I've often found the "friendly without much rules" form of
frisbee played here _much_ more dangerous and intimidating than organised play with a modicum of tactic. If the objective of throwing clean throws, into open space, to a single player is left by the side for a "over your head into the masses - someone will get it" style of play, colisions are bound to happen, and the smaller and slower players in the group tend to hardly ever get the disk. Be sure - no blame on Tim or who ever threw the disk; I was as much a part of the frey as anybody. I just think it's a real pity when the girls rarely get the disk and have to duck and cower while an air-fight goes on above.
Have fun in the sun!

I hope your thumb heal fast Robin, that really stinks. I see where your coming from, throwing into the mass can present hazard. Perhaps the people that do that ALL the time should try to focus on including everyone instead of just focusing on the point at hand...but it's really not more than a few, most everyone on the pitch include newbies.
Frisbee is kind of an agro game, maybe we should discuss ways to make it more friendly during the next warm up.

I know last year when I started playing that I had no idea
how to get myself into an open space until some one showed me how (and at that it doesn't happen too often

). Perhaps when we gather together to sort out teams each time, we can mention a couple of strategies for getting open and remind everyone (again) to concentrate on short passes and to look around for newbies who may be nearby.
Sorry about your thumb, Robin, and I appreciate that you're always trying to include and help TT.

Oops... sorry Robin! I had one near-death experience of getting my legs taken out by accident at the apex of a jump (in a frey over the disc just like that)... luckily when I landed on my back it was flat on the center of my back, and on a sandy patch instead of the rocks right next to it. Guess the 3 sprained ankles during Ultimate can't be blamed on gameplay though. Unless I whine "I was following the other guy and he made great cuts!"

Those long throws are only OK (in my eyes) if thrown by a good thrower, to someone running long in an open space, breaking away from their man. But I agree w/ Robin that they happen the other way too often in our TT games... where someone is not open, and the thrower just goes for it anyway because it's the longest possible (if not likely) completion.
I recommend some 30-second end zone tips between points. It focuses everyone on what to improve from the last few plays (just don't take it personally!). I try to do it sometimes at TT. Believe me, in other games (e.g. Wegwerfgesellschaft) I am the cause of most of those 30-second tips --

sorry about your thumb, but your reaction sounds a bit too aggresive. It's only a thumb. I find that over the three seasons I have played, the injuries are very, very infrequent. And people do take care not to be too aggressive directly due to the newbie friendly approach the organisers have maintained.

Yo Hayne! Glad you will be back for a visit. Hopefully I can get out of work early on Wed to play with ya.
Hmm... actually I was wondering how to get something from the US that I need... a new paperback by Peter F. Hamilton called "Judas Unchained". My brother got me the 1st book of the duo and it is awesome so far... not sure if I can wait until my next US trip to get the 2nd book. If you have room in your luggage I'll buy you a Maß or two after the game to repay!
And, for those in town today for the Sunday game, I might head to the
Isar for a bit of bbq after a drink at the biergarten. Will practice some Deutsch with my German friends. Let me know if someone wants to join.

I think we will be in the north part by
Hirschau (not by the
Chinese tower!) on Sunday. Should not be much problem to find us, just ask "is this the Toytown group." I don't think there will be too many frisbee players (at least not with a group of a dozen people). :-) See you there,

Man, wish I could have played. But my knee was swelling a bit by the time I got home, now it has about 10 degrees of motion. But I think it is just a light sprain (can still support weight and doesn't hurt that bad, same or less than a sprained ankle). Gonna get a doc to check it just in case. Please no ACL or meniscus...
Probably won't make it Wed but maybe I will be able to come by to hang out a bit w/ Hayn!
