okay, i have no clue if´I still know how to throw these things but I think I will give this a try on Sunday, especially since parnell told me he'd be there as well and how could I miss seeing that huge old fart trying to throw a frisbee that is the size of his fingernail.

Over a short distance and after the right piece of chicken breast I'm mustard chum - plan B is to shoehorn you with the frisbee.

The session on Sunday will be at the Dietlindenstrasse / "New Location" given on the very first post on this thread. We meet at 4pm.
I think I'm looking forward to meeting parnell and CodeRed - but they've got me a bit worried now - you do know that UF is non contact right guys?
this could be a silly question, but is it just males playing on sunday?? females are welcomed, right??

By most people im regarded as female (3 Lions being the exception), and i'll definately be there. For further proof of women look in the gallery, i posted some frisbee pics there a few weeks ago.

dude, nothing to worry about. parnell just played some premier league rugby in Ireland, I gave it up after 4 weeks in Germany. we can't even SPELL contact.

@HRC: Usually it's about 60:40 male / female. Generally the girls play better than the boys, but don't tell them I said that.

Not sure if I'll be able to make it tomorrow (same reason why I couldn't make it today). Hopefully I can make it. A Sunday wouldn't be the same without playing some ultimate, and facing the scary defense of the random noise yelling!

My U bahn arrives at Dietlindenstrasse at 15:39. How about I'll hang around there till 15:45 then wander down - on the corner of Dietlindenstrasse. I'm pretty recognisable, very tall and look quite like the picture in my profile. I'll PM you my number just in case you miss us.

I've given a few other people that location for a meetup so we should stick to the crossroads - I have to admit I can't remember whether you need to go to the town end or the out of town end of the platform for the right steps! I'm sure you'll find me.
I can see a horde of people reading the thread... just to reassure you, although the weather looks a bit threatening

Ok possible new location to play. Maybe someone who lives near it could go check it out for the busy on a sunny day factor, but I've seen people playing ultimate there before so I assume its ok.

May 22 2005, 7:01 pm
Is that the front and back garden of the pinakoteks? If so, I have also seen people playing there. Seems that every time I've been there on a sunny day it's been empty except for a group on one or the other lawn. I can check it out on a nice day and evening if the decision is made to switch.

I'm not sure exactly what it is...I just seen the grass and peope playing. Defo check it out as it looked like a decent surface when I went past it.

May 22 2005, 7:45 pm
It is the Pinakotheks. The north side one would be difficult to play on, as it gets a lot of walking traffic between the museums, plus there are lots of sunbathers there. The south side one is less busy, but I've seen others out there playing things too, so you might need to mark off area or something.
It's a great location (1 minute from me) but I don't think they would appreciate you playing on it when it's wet and ripping the lawn to shreds.
benpanter
May 22 2005, 7:53 pm
When it is wet we can stick with giselestrasse - the problem for us is when it is very hot and lots of people sun bathe (I'm guessing that would be a problem at this venue too). Dietlindenstasse suffers that it is a bit midgy and waterlogged, and quite lumpy. Hmmm...
Showem
May 22 2005, 7:55 pm
Well, why not break out of central Schwabing? Head to Nymphenburg or Westpark or Luitpoldpark.
benpanter

No, seriously, these are great suggestions and I'll look into them. Thanks showem!

Great game today, everyone!Paul: Nice one for the map!
The problem with playing around the Pinakothek is that the Wegwerfgesellschaft (=
"Throwing Away Society", another Ultimate club already play there on Sundays and Wednesdays - see here
http://www.wegwerfgesellschaft.org/). By the way, Andre and I ended up having to stay at the Hirschau for another hour this evening - the heavy rain kicked in just after Ben et al headed home.

I agree that Dietlindenstr is no cop as an alternative for those very sunny Sundays. Marsh + flies + ditches + holes = a bit shit. So where else could we play? Somewhere not too far from the U6 /
Schwabing / English Garden ... football field maybe?
Any ideas, frisbee fans?

Frisbee in Andechs - BostonSportsFan's 21st BirthdayIt turns out that BSF is a lot younger than he looks, and coincidentally it's his 21st birthday on Saturday when TT goes to Andechs to eat, drink and be merry. As a special birthday treat we'll be taking the frisbee along and playing for about an hour somewhere enroute - there are plenty of big open spaces on the way there if you walk, and copious refreshments at the monastry afterwards.
Game on Sunday will still happen, this is a supplimentary event. If you're interested, sign up on the Andechs signup page (get there from the first post of the
Andechs thread) and then post that you want to play on this thread. We'll be at the monastry about an hour after the main group... should be a good one.

i'm often at the location marked directly across the lake from the seehaus. it's usually got some available space, even on weekends when i've been there. plus... the seehaus is a really nice post-frisbee spot
benpanter
May 23 2005, 10:12 am
@Izabella: Do you mean the little place to the up-left of the picture or the big area where we normally play?
I'd guess that the little place will be even more crowded with picnicers and sunbathers than the big field... but I'm certainly prepared to be corrected. Is it flat too?
Incidentally, we decided that the Hirschau biergarten is even better than seehaus... While you don't have the lake, you do have excellent huge tables, correspondingly huge umbrellas to escape rain from and, even more importantly, a mass of Helles is an euro cheaper!
