nothing happened. There is no picture. The game was one of the greatest ever. You do not want to do anything but show up Weds. and play UF.

Great game on Sunday, everyone!Paul: Nice one for the map!
The problem with playing around the Pinakothek is that the Wegwerfgesellschaft (="Throwing Away Society", another Ultimate club already play there on Sundays and Wednesdays - see here
http://www.wegwerfgesellschaft.org/).
Any ideas, frisbee fans?
Do I hear competition? TT vs WWG? THROWDOWN AN' REPRESENT!!! Maybe call them up for a friendly game sometime? I would suggest a format similar to this past weekend, with people wanting a competitive game going for the WWG game and those wanting a fun laid back game going regular, then meeting for a frosty beverage of your choice afterwards (or earlier if the WWG is kicking the crap outta us)? Just a thought.
In other news... what about Oly park? Is there anything out that way we could use? As I don't go out there much, I don't know... and as I live in the extreme SE of munich (I don't technically live IN munich actually), it's a bit of a ways for me, but for a quality field and room, it'd be fine w/ me.
Hey all! Bummed I missed the game yesterday but it sure sounded exciting. I'd be psyched for a pick-up game on Saturday before BSF's 21st.

Spoke to someone last night who was a bit worried about frisbee leading to injuries... just to reassure any potential players, it should be very rare that anyone gets injured in Ultimate. If there are any mishaps, it's because of an unintentional collision or a misthrown frisbee - it's a non-contact sport.
The new style (tested on Sunday) is that when we have enough players, we have two games going on. One is for people who want to be super fast and competitive, possibly with a disregard for personal safety, the other for the more sane individuals whose priority is the game rather than winning (I'll happily put myself in that group!). The slower game has a smaller pitch and that's the one anyone who is there for the first time should play on. This splitting seemed to work very well on Sunday!
If there are insufficient numbers to split into two games we all play together, but everyone has to make an effort to both include every member of the team, whatever their ability, and be very careful when making a committing catch that someone else isn't going for the same disc.
Hope everyone finds that agreeable...
I'm very much looking forward to a great SUNNY game tomorrow... especially after enjoying the mud this past Sunday... Just wish that had been a score instead of a kickoff play.
I posted previously that Tequilla Bowl John will be showing up. While he might be there, report is that he injured himself in prague or something... don't know exactly what the deal is, but I'm not sure he'll be doing more than enjoying the sun... now, I can hear some of you saying 'oh, thats really too bad...', but go back into the archives and read my post about this kid. We will be saving ourselves (ok, I'll be saving myself) from wicked injuries!!!
On a related note, the injury from this past weekend was minor (in my opinion). A frisbee to the nose, nothing more. Something that could have happened in just about any sport (other than curling... well assuming the broom doesn't get away from you). If you are afraid you might be injured while playing UF, fair enough. I will just say that in all the time I've played UF, I've only ever seen Scotsman get hurt, so the rest of ya'll are safe. Sorry, I meant to say, the worst I've seen is a little bit of blood from the nose (of Scotsman). If it were dangerous, the game would never have been so popular w/ the hippies in southern Oregon! As far as I can tell, TT'ers are playing for the fun of it, and everyone seems to have a lot of respect for the safety of the other players. Just gotta make sure your not a lightweight and only 5 foot 7 and trying to guard Ben!
Hope to see a good turnout tomorrow.

Hey y'all. Had a blast on Sunday, though I think the other field is a bit better. Also, Ben's idea of splitting into two groups seemed to work really well. It might be fun to integrate the groups towards the end too, but I'll leave that for Ben to decide...
Looking forward to a sunny gameday tomorrow!!

<PSA>
Just a quick reminder...
Bring:
1) a light colored shirt AND a dark coloured shirt.
2) (and more importantly) Something to keep you hydrated.
It's looking like we will be moving into warmer weather over the next few games, so it will be important to remember to keep drinking throughout the game. Side effects (that I can remember, and have read/been told about) of dehydration include headaches, muscle cramps, muscle weakness, and fatigue, among others. None of those help a person play better, and will definitly not help a person enjoy the game any more (and muscle cramps SUCK!!).
It is also a good idea to drink extra water during the day of the game. Being well hydrated BEFORE the game is a great way to
help stay hydrated during the game, however this should not replace drinking fluids during the game.
So bring bottles of your favorite hydrating beverage with you tomorrow. Chug an extra water w/ your lunch, and see you all on the field/pitch!

@JIP - Good advice, but with all this talk of injuries and special precautions to ensure bodily hydration,
we should be careful we don't scare prospective new joiners off :-)
If you're thinking about coming along to the meetup for the first time ...The rules of ultimate are really simple and take less than 5 minutes to learn.
Ultimate is good exercise, but it doesn't have to be that strenuous.
... You can play a game with others who are new to ultimate, and during a game you sub out of the game whenever you want a break.Ultimate is absolutely non-contact.
... of all the sports I've played, it's one of the most suited for mixed sex teams. Everyone is welcome. The more people that come, the better!
Our meetups are first and foremost about having some outdoors fun - we don't even keep track of the score!
... and we always go for a drink in the nearby biergarten afterwards as well, so it's a great way to meet new people.

Just to clarify, we'll be playing at the Giselestrasse venue today. Just in case it is absolutly packed, if everyone who is going to be there could be there by 6:30 we might go a-wandering to find a less packed place. Should be fine though.

@chewy: I can certainly do a design for t-shirts and look into getting them printed. First problem is to decide what we want to call ourselves though...
TTUF - purists would claim that there shouldn't be an F on the end, as for them the sport is merely called "ultimate".
TTU with a modified TT logo on there? As per gideon's directions?
I'll see what I can think up.

Excellent game yesterday! Tons of fun and great to see a bunch of new people out. The idea of splitting up the games at the beginning, I think, worked out great. Also great to see so many people join for the biergarten afterwards!
I also love the idea of t-shirts! I'm with jip on this, TTU is what it technically should be, but TTUF looks better, and gives the impression that we're all "tough." Maybe it could intimidate more people to move out of our area on nice days when we start playing.

it was tons of fun last night. i heard later that a certain few ultimate players found themselves in
schwabing tossing the disc after a few drinks, nearly getting scolded by the polizei. just can't get enough, eh?

Calling Anyone Who Doesn't Already Have a Frisbee!I'm going to buy my brother an official weight "flying disc" for his birthday next week and wondered if anyone would be interested in placing a collective order to save on postage?
I bought my current disc (one of the two fluorescent orange ones we've been playing with) for €13,90 in
this little online-shop. They have about 15 different colours and delivered quickly. If anyone is interested, send me a PM and let me know the colour/quantity - I'll be happy to do the ordering and bring the frisbees along to the next ultimate meetup.
(Of course, if anyone know's a cheaper place to buy official weight discs, let me know!)
