Does anybody know TV channels show the
Formula 1 over here in Germany?
Plus, which pubs in Munich show the races live?

TV channels
RTL and
ORF1.
ORF1 is better if you have it, no advert breaks.

yes it is on RTL free-to-air but with advertising breaks. If you are lucky enough to be able to receive ORF1 - Austrian state channel via sat or via antennae in certain areas - then you can watch *without* advertising breaks.

...or Premiere without advertising breaks, but that is a pay channel of course - worth every cent, though.
I feel like I should be getting commission from Premiere today.

if you are lucky enough to have British Free-to-View satellite TV, you can also watch it on ITV.

As a passionate F1 supporter without a TV I'd be keen to meet up with a few people and watch the races. I have to watch the races live, recorded races just don't cut it!
On a visit to Kilian's back in November I saw some posters advertising the F1 broadcasts at the adjacent Ned Kelly's Australian bar which I'm guessing were for the past season. Not sure if they are going to be doing the same for the coming season, but assuming they are and they are actually open that late for the season opener in Australia it could be quite good given that Webber is in a Williams BMW and the Aussies are celebrating 10 years of F1 in Melbourne this year...

I do miss ITV's coverage, even though they do have breaks I much prefer the style, RTL just talk for hours about complete crap with no humor or anything! I want to see Martin Brundles pit walk again

- time to get a bigger sat dish i think so i can pick up ITV!

Group meet ups sound like a great idea. I saw a few races at ned's, but felt a bit silly as there wasnt usually a lot of people watching it. Pootle is probably right about the screen, but i always sit at the bar so can usually see. I reckon if w asked the 'ARC' nicels they might show it live. There surely cant be much other sport on at that hour!

Spoke to Jason at
The Arc last weekend, and asked him about the F1, he said if we came to watch it, they'd play it! Looks liek it would be a good option for the early morning races.

alternatively any TT F1 fans out there with cable or whatever that would like some drinks and company?
Try Formel 1 Scenario at Leopoldstr. (Italian resto-bar opposite Cast) mostly Ferrari fans go there but there's an allotted back room for the BMW's. Make sure you get reservation beforehand as the place gets really packed.

Hi,
Yep, I think the coverage is from around 2/2.30am to 6am (must be a big build up) on ITV.
Can anyone from The Arc confirm that you guys will be able to play this?
I think the Newbie Meet is that night too, so maybe cool to meet some new folks and then stay on for the race.

Hooray for The Arc.
Are many of you others going along to watch it there?
I'm going to wear my Ferrari undies.

the game is on Sunday in Australia which means that due to the time difference it's on early Sunday morning here, i.e. 4 a.m. We are having a build-up party and then showing the race live (2 for 1 offer on Fosters).

Does anyone know a good bar that we can watch the Grand Prix in, am staying in
Leopoldstrasse so anywhere in the Schwabing area?

Which GP is it? Providing its not Brazil, or somewhere when the race is 2am in the morning. You should go to
the Arc, which is about a 10 minute walk from Universtät, again close to Leopoldstrasse. Oh and not forgeting the aptly named F1 bar on Leopoldstrasse, dunno where they got that name from, but I think they will be showing it.
I'm sure there are others, but these three are your best bet. The breakfast wrap at GM's is great, at the Arc go for an
Arc burger with bacon, cheese, fried onions and jalepeno's on it. Dont know what kind of food F1 has, never been there.

sorry for the dumb question, i am "quite" new to Munich and still cannot work out how to get RTL on my TV!
I get Super RTL though... Do you have to sign up with somebody like SKY to get it? We used to get it around xmas time but for the whole xmas period there was a message at the bottom of the screen saying "RTL is no longer available on this channel after 1.1.2007" So which channel did it go to and how do I get it? It's so annoying when I see a film I want to watch and then find out it's on the channels I DON'T get! Plus of course F1 which I have been watching in England up til now this season, but obviously I need to be able to watch this at home here in Munich now (Can't go to bars as I am 6 months pregnant!)
Thanks for any help or advice!

I am going to me over in Munich this weekend and would be very grateful for any suggestions of bars where I could watch the race on Sunday?
Cheers, KP

I know you want to watch live, but ITV are repeating it at 12:30 so I imagine you could watch it at
the Arc then, just makes sure you don't listen to the radio or read any newspapers on the way there and pretend it's live!

Too late for you now, but Ned Kelly's had it. They invariably do, if it's at a decent hour.
