Zitzelsberger

Thomas Zitzelsberger is an English-speaking tax advisor for expatriates living in Germany.
Thomas is a fully qualified accountant under German and Irish law. Having worked since 1997 on a freelance basis and as consultant in a number of major tax practices - he has gained extensive practical experience in advising individuals on both domestic and international tax issues. Thomas has three years work experience in the UK, Ireland and USA. This means he has a good knowledge of different tax systems in these countries as well as speaking both English and German fluently.
Thomas's pricing structure takes into account the amount of work that clients are willing to undertake themselves. As such, as the client you decide what level of service you require and hence what fees you pay.
100% of Thomas's business can be conveniently conducted via email or telephone. A face-to-face meeting is not required. This saves you both time and money. Thomas is based in Munich, but he can provide equal services to clients anywhere in the world.

As a native English-speaker formerly living in Germany, Thomas has been a wonderful help to me in processing necessary paperwork and navigating through governmental requirements. His fees are more than reasonable and his prompt attention to each and every inquiry are priceless. I highly recommend Thomas to anyone in need of the services he offers. If the need ever arose again, I would not hesitate to use Thomas' services.

As a Bristish National based here in Germany, working in a number of different countries, I recently used Thomas's tax advisory services. I had spoken to a number of tax advisors before selecting Thomas - as I needed someone competent specifically in both UK and German tax systems. From our first meeting, Thomas sounded confident and knowledgeable and provided me with the support and advice I needed - dealing with all negotiations/discussions with the tax authorities on my behalf. This exceeded my expectations. What impressed me most of all, was Thomas's relaxed manner and 'can do', 'no problem' attitude and his thorough knowlege of what had to be done and of the organisations he was dealing with - here in Germany and in the UK. I would not hesitate to use Thomas's services again, nor would I hesitate to recommend him to the wider expat community.

I'm hoping that Thomas' services are good, but I must say that we have been waiting a couple of months now for our tax returns. We followed up and were promised them a week ago, but haven't heard anything yet. It's reassuring to hear the good reviews, I hope our experience doesn't prove them wrong.
I just spoke to Thomas today, and he wanted to pass me along to a colleague, 'Yvonne'. Don't mind, as long as she knows her stuff, but did this happen to anyone else, and can anyone give any feedback?

Thomas came through for us, a bit late but he did it. He must be very busy. But we will use him again.

Well, it is the tax season and these poor people are working unbelievable hours to meet everyone's demands. I had several friends that were in the Tax business and I literally did not see them for months during tax season. They worked like crazy. So, just keep that in mind, OK.
Sure, my post was more from the angle that there's lots of recommendations for Thomas here, and no mention of anyone else, so I'm using someone 'unknown'. That's all, OK.
Hi Guy,
I was wondering how your experience with Yvonne was.

I sent an enquiry to Thomas via TT and he responded within 24 hours. We talked about my situation over the phone for ten or fifteen minutes, and he gave me some very solid advice, even though we ended up agreeing that I didn't need his services! He was incredibly helpful and friendly, and I felt like he was really concerned with my best interests rather than just making a profit off of me. I'd definitely go to him in the future with any tax-related issues.

I have contacted Thomas twice in recent weeks and he has not replied. Perhaps the contact form on the site is broken.

It could be that he's away on holidays? I was in touch with him 2 weeks ago - he warned me he would be very busy in the next while, so I've been dealing with a colleague of his. Very happy so far!

i spoke to thomas, after a frustrating experience in figuring out the tax system in germany...i had previously spoken to couple of other consultants but obviously the communication was difficult as i do not speak enough german and the others did not speak enough english.
however when i found thomas's number and called him...we had a 15mins conversation and i really felt lighter in every sense of the word. what seemed to be impossible system, was nothing more then 5 steps of rubbish (as jeffery wud say). i can't thank this man enough for a free enlightenment of the german burocratic tax system.
i would strongly recommend thomas to you all for all your tax problems.

I've just had a chat with Thomas and I would highly recommend him to anyone having tax issues.
I emailed him at 2 in the morning and he called me the next day with friendly, succinct advice. A short 20 minute chat has made everything a lot simpler and I now know which way to move forward.
I will definitely use his services in the future when the time comes. Thanks Thomas!

I've had occasion to call Thomas on the matter of a slightly tricky inheritance tax issue.
In response to my PM, he phoned me and put the issue into the kind of perspective I needed.
Twenty minutes well spent on the telephone has greatly helped me.
I can thoroughly recommend Thomas. He is professional, highly knowledgeable without being patronising
and just the kind of person you need to help out in tax matters when you prefer to speak English or need second
opinions.

Has Thomas...disappeared? I sent him a number of e-mail inquiries and also a request on his website and got no response.

I sent Thomas a contact request and he called me the next day. I spent 15-20 minutes discussing some tax questions I had with him. He was extremely professional and I would highly recommend him. He didn't even charge me for the consultation! I currently live in the UK and am looking to move to Germany and if I do I will definitely be using Thomas as an Accountant.

My experience of dealing with Thomas is entirely positive, he responded to my initial enquiry almost immeadiatly and we arranged a short *free* initial telephone consultation the same morning. Over the phone Thomas came across as knowledgable, honest and friendly. Net result: I don't need the services of a tax consultant right now but as and when I do, I know exactly who to speak to.

I have a rather complicated living and employment situation and turned to Thomas for help. He responded within hours! After a free 15 minute consultation we decided that we needed to schedule a longer chat. This longer chat answered all of my questions and put my mind greatly at ease. I will be using his services in future when I return to Germany from the UK, as his advise is sensible and canny. I can only recommend him to others who are baffled by the complexities of trying to live and work across two countries.

Same here. It says they're booked through the end of the year, try them next year. Ugh.
