We've got quite a big pool of players at the moment. However, if you would like to join, just keep an eye on the thread and stick your name down if there's a space. Nobody is Maradona but most people can run (well, for 10 minutes), kick in a straight line (normally to the opposition) and shoot in the approximate direction of the goal. As long as you can do each of the above, come along!

As for the booking, it's completely booked out for 2006. Gutted. Not to despair though as I'm gonna phone every damn place in this town to find another alternative. I've sent in a request for a booking of 20 games from the beginning of 2007 onwards. As soon as I hear a yes or no, I'll post. Remember, whatever happens we've still got another 3 games there coming up. I won't be around on Monday till late afternoon so someone else better kickstart the list. I'm playing so see you all there.

p.s. if this gets archived on Sunday can someone repost it in the live forum? Some folks might not check this thread till Monday.

Don't know about the feasability of this, but. Would we be able to get a kick about at the English Gardens from 6ish, not getting dark 'til about 8 so can give us a couple of hours??

This obviously a worst case senario, but an alternative all the same.

UPDATE:

After some haggling I've received an offer from the Olympiapark guys. Monday-Thursday is booked out till April 2007. However, there's one pitch left on Friday evenings from 6pm-7:30pm. I think that's a pretty good time to play. I've asked them to hold it but we need to confirm it double quick.

The offer is 25 games (excluding the Christmas and Easter holidays) for €1,485. That works out at €59.40 a game cos they give you a 10% discount for such large bookings. The games would start on 9 October and 50% of the money would have to be paid in advance. Assuming we can get 10 people to pay up front as regulars, it works out at €148.50 each. That gives you about 6 months of football, which is not too bad.

Some of you already paid me for the current set of games. I'll have to work out how much money of that you are 'owed' by me. We can then deduct that from what you would have to give me. However, we've still got time to sort all that out. The important thing now is we need people to say yes. It's the best chance we've got of continuing the football and still gives people plenty of time to go home, get changed, and go and get pissed!

It's looking good so far. I'm just waiting for confirmation from the olympiapark people. See if you could try and get off a bit early on Friday m1860. Come on, it's Friday! As a German it's your right to finish early on Friday! The only other choice would be 8:30-10 but then no one could go out. Wouldn't be too popular I'd say.

I will give others until Thursday of this week before closing the regulars. Once I know that I will be able to say how much everyone has to pay. Obviously, the more regulars we have, the less you'll each have to pay. I'm going to PM the other likely candidates shortly. If you know of anyone who'd like to become a regular, please get them to get in touch with me. I would ask each of you to initiate your payment as soon as I give the nod on Thursday so that I can make sure Socca5 get the full payment before the Friday games begin or the booking will get cancelled.

Once we have the final list of regulars, I will also be able to work out how much the current players owe me minus what they paid a few months ago. We've had five games and so it's a bit of a headache, but I'm going to sit down and work it out. The money the subs pay, both at the moment and in the new Friday slot, will be kept and will pay for extra games at the end. That means you can assume that you will get around 5-8 'free' come the end of April. Your money will thus be paying for more than 30 games, which makes it even better value.

My last point is regarding next week. We currently have a booking for the Monday but I have a sneaking suspicion that some people may well want to head down to the good old Wies'n as Tuesday is a public holiday. If that is the case, we can book a pitch on Tuesday at 6pm. Who would prefer/not be against the change? The Wies'n goes on till Tuesday but the last night is not all that anyway.
