Hey, just wondering if anyone here is in Frankfurt and looking for an extra for a football team, whether it be weekly fives or 11 a-side. Haven't come across any yet, but am aching to start playing footie again.

I'm a sprightly 29 so my aspirations to footballing glory are not dead yet.

ps. On second thoughts, I'm a Liverpool fan, so any hope of sporting glory any time soon really is dead!

My ex used to play in the Ostpark on Wednesdays and Sundays I think. I see loads of groups playing when I go jogging there on Sundays.

Hi,

I'm also interested in this. So does anyone have further info of a football club - 11 or 6-a-side / English or German - that is of a fairly relaxed standard? That is, like a UK Sunday (pub) league standard, that plays regular in Frankfurt?

Does anyone here play?

Looking to get playing again as the season approaches - but not looking for anything too serious, or good!

Thanks!

Wow - the sport of football obviously does not exist in the state of Hessen.

I'll have to go and buy a handball. Or go to Eintracht Frankfurt training. biggrin.gif

Lo' Huggy Bear,

I am in the process of organizing something soon. Especially with the dark months coming in thick and fast, I am trying to organize some indoor. It would be 6-7 a-side.
Huggy Bear
great - please post up the details when you have them!

Judging by the curry thread there are a fair few football fans here in FFM but does anyone actually play rather than just sitting there beer in hand telling everyone the could do better? I've been here 3 weeks now and running around the streets without a ball is already driving me crazy (although I now realise how small FFM is!) I'm only here during the week so would just be looking for someone to train with if possible, or maybe a couple of indoor games per week (it is starting to get colder!)

Cheers

I'd like to join a team, or join in a game of 5- or 7-a-side footy during the evenings after work.

Are there any teams out there that are short of a player?

I've just moved to Frankfurt and am already suffering withdrawal symptoms of not playing regularly.

Don't mind travelling a bit to get there or committing to playing each week, I do travel back to the UK most weekends though.

I organise an indoor game in Eschborn at my company's sports hall BUT it is on Sundays at noon.

If you are here some weekends you are welcome to join. Let me know if you need more info.

Does anybody know of any amateur football teams in Frankfurt that are looking for players? Nothing too serious, but more organised than a kickabout in the park would be good.

Thanks

The Anglo Irish pub in Sachsenhausen are always on the lookout for decent players. Also, Fortuna Frankfurt sometimes...a lot of the guys from the Anglo play for Fortuna too, so the Anglo is your best place to start.

It's in Alt Sachsenhausen - Kleine Rittergasse 1

Would anyone happen to know of any similar pub teams in the Darmstadt area? Even park kickabouts would be suitable for me!

Thanks

This is for Geoff Yeats in Darmstadt. I have been in greisheim for a week. I have some friends coming over from the UK fro my birthday 5-7 December, and we plan to have a game of 5-a-side sometime over the weekend. So far I have discovered at least 3 local teams who use the same gym a I do, and they all have their own halls, so I hope to hire one. I would be keen to have regular kickabouts as well, as long as there are not too many young quick people! My days of kick and rush are over, just kick and push for me. I will keep you posted as to my birthday game and what else I find out about local footy.
Cheers Gordon

Good to hear from you Gordon, thanks for keeping me posted!

What are the names of the teams you found, and the name of the gym?

Geoff

p.s. I am relatively young, but def not quick ;-)

Geoff, the gym is called Step-In and is next to an Opel garage on the main road between Darmstadt and Greisheim, just before the turn for the open air swimming pool if you know it.

One of the teams is called TUS and they use a large sports centre next to the pool. Don't know the other names.

Also discovered that Eumetsat and ESOC run 5-a-sides during the week. Do you have any relatives at those places? if so you may be able to join in!

Thanks for the info! I don't have relatives at those places unfortunately but I'm always looking for work there so who knows!!

If you're willing to travel to Eschborn to play football then there are some guys who organise a 5 a side game there every Sunday afternoon, right near Eschborn Sud S-Bahn station. The guy who runs it sends out a weekly "Evite". You can get on the mailing list through Yahoo's Frankfurt n'Motion group.

I went along last Sunday and it was really good, I recommend it!
