Expat rugby clubs in Frankfurt

Hello all,

New to Frankfurt - from the UK, 35, (bloody-hell, officially a veteran!) - ankles and knees about shot now but still ok for the social side and the occasional run out (as long as you don't tell my wife!) - Play centre. Well, anything now really! I'm still involved with my local Coventry club, Earlsdon RFC and since arriving recently from Tokyo, had been with the Tokyo Crusaders (and Tokyo Gaijins prior to that.)

Any info of any local sides highly welcomed and appreciated - Sorry I cannot play until maybe late January as just out of plaster after being the recipient of a Kamikazi style take-down 5 weeks ago. But my drinking arm is well in order!

Regards,

Dean. biggrin.gif

The person to contact is: Simon Cooper

(E-mail address removed)

He plays/organises Rugby in the lower half of Germany and the Netherlands.

If this is the same Simon Cooper that I know from Studentenstadt München RFC, I am not sure how much he can help you find a union team in Frankfurt. He is a player for our Munich team and also organises Rugby League (not Union).

A quick search of the interwebby thingy came up with two clubs in Frankfurt:

Please don't post telephone number and E-mails, if nessesary
PM them to other members

The Hessischer Rugby Verband has a list of all clubs in Hessen as well. Some are fairly close to frankfurt if the two above are no good.

Kamil has now moved down to Zürich, but he'll be able to tell you who to contact at 1880.

@Tommy - please edit your post and PM Kamil's email address to Big-Bonus. If you publish an email address on a bulletin board then there are systems which will identify the address and poor old Kamil will have his inbox filled with spam mails advertising viagra.

Cheers
Neil
Neil
I've sorted it.

@Neil

erm...I can still see Kamil's email address on Tommy's post. Do you have access to edit it?

question to the mods:

the contact details posted by me for the Frankfurt sides were taken from a website in the public domain. Is there a difference between publicising eMail addresses on a forum like this and a website?
Neil
It's basically for your own protection, the likelyhood of being SPAMMED to death are very high if you leave personal details on a forum as they get trawled regularly
for E-mails by spammers.

For this reason there is a clause in the britboard guidelines:

4 - E-Mail Protection / Privacy Policy

The Britboard takes the protection of your e-mail address against spam extremely seriously. The Britboard will never divulge your e-mail address to anyone. Also, The Britboard will not send you any e-mail to your registered address other than for the following reasons:

4.1 For membership sign up and validation.
4.2 To alert you to an incoming private message
4.3 Forwarded e-mails from other Britboard members sent via the forum e-mail feature. (The sender does not see your email address unless you reply)
4.4 To alert you to replies to a topic for which you have requested response alerts.
4.5 The options mentioned in 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 may be switched off the member Control Panel.

yeah i understand why a private eMail address should be kept private but the ones I posted were already in the open on various websites. I was just wondering whether there was a difference in the ability to trawl a standard website compared to a chat forum like this one.

Tommy

Thanks for the info on the McGoawan's 1880 team - Where's McGowan's? What's the 1880 team?...and when's the next (training) session??

I put the email of a contact but it was scrubbed ask Neil?

Good luck
maaph
why not just post the website details?

After Neil373 mentioned that eMail addresses should be left off, I "reported" the thread to the mods to have the address removed. Seems to me to make sense that all email addresses are removed from posts (even those copied from public sites) .. this saves the mods having to think, which is no bad thing biggrin.gif
Neil
Exactly Maaph ! ...we don't allow posting of Email addresses for the reasons I've
previously mentioned, if the e-mail address is on public server then just post
the URL for the site. When an E-mail appears I can't judge if it one from
a web site or someone's private E-mail, and they might not be too happy
about having it plastered on a forum.

@Dean

Here's the link to the 1880 website, under the rugby section you will find a list of contacts and their training times.
