Beerfest - an Oktoberfest movie for 2006

IMDB: Beerfest (2006) - Anyone heard of this? Seen any previews? I only found out about it when I upgraded my Winamp media player and noticed this beerfest skin. I think it's viral marketing, and I'm playing along. The skin is odd though, as nobody drinks out of a Stein like that at Oktoberfest.

this is supposed to be brilliant, ive been reading up on it! Its by Broken Lizard, the same guys who did the movie "Super Troopers" (which grows on you the more you watch it, i love it now). Lots of people are raving about this and i for one cant wait to see it! i hope the have they have us irish in it, cus it would be funny to see how they present my fellow countrymen as beer drinkers!

I've seen the trailers. It will either be ridiculous or ridiculously bad. Theres big beefy Bavarians wearing lederhosen and hot Swedish girls wearing skin tight hot pants and threatening to spank people. So theres that at least.

ps: then again i found Dodge Ball to be hilarious so if three people whose taste I appreciate say its funny then I'll go see it.

I think it looks hilarious.. This ought to piss off the Germans pretty good.. I may have to break out my trusty Canadian decoy flag in order to escape from the theater unharmed.. We can make as many movies as we want where US soldiers mow down the Germans left and right, but make a movie about Americans beating the Germans in a beerfest and they will freak..

Oh and to the Irish guy.. yeah you guys will definitely be in the movie.. and based on the level of stereotyping in the trailer, you will be doing some fighting ..

caught the movie here in texas at a preview earlier this week at a great theater that serves food and BEER, which thoroughly benefited the atmosphere. and all the waitresses and waiters at the theater were wearing dirndls and lederhosen! i'm not the hugest fan of supertroppers, but found this one entertaining, and a perfect lead up to oktoberfest - perhaps we'll see it again when it comes out in munich!

yes, indeed, the wonderful drafthouse. oh how i am going to miss it while in munich...

some friends of mine just saw this movie... at the drafthouse actually! they loved and told me i HAD to see it! i hadnt heard anything about it coming out in munich, so i told them that the real oktoberfest would have to do for me

This film will not be shown in any Munich cinemas. They came up with a bunch of lame excuses like "nobody would want to watch it" and "all our screens are busy showing Perfume and Wer Früher Stirbt, ist Länger Tot".

Or is it because they don't want to upset the city or lose their free Wiesn-tickets?

Perhaps the best part of a write-up in the TZ (everyone's favourite quality daily) is the criticism that "Die Deutschen spielen in dem US-streifen die Dummen, die Amis hingegen sind Tolerant und offenherzig". Which couldn't possibly be the case!

I think the most impotent part of the stupid traylor was that no germans were hurt while shooting this stupid movie. Apart from that I think that octoberfest is so much more sexy than this movie could ever portray.

i'd like to see this since i heard so many good things about it. i havent really watched any movies since i moved to munich. i'll have to make it to the theatre soon to see an english-language movie.

ps. mr sinus theatre at the drafthouse is one of the funniest things i've ever experienced! i saw the karate kid! before i left austin i also went to a queen sing-a-long with a queen-obsessed japanese co-worker. it was hilarious. imagine an entire theater of people on their feet singing as loud as they can to "we are the champions." classic.

Video CD, Should play in most modern DVD Players and for sure on PC's

Loved the film actually. Found it really really funny. Good old eighties humor (ie boobs for no apparent reason and so forth). The whole thing was done quite well, I laughed my ass off. I probably came out a couple points down on my iq though. Only piss off for me was the stiefl was being refered to as das boot which is kinda funny, however it kinda pissed me off.

Saw it and wasn't that impressed 2/5. After living here this long I no longer find the sterotype funny, as it is in general inaccuate.

I think they proved the stereo type correct by not showing the movie!!

Eventually a movie that's as interesting as beer. :-)

Because it's like falling over during a figure skating routine and still getting a perfect 6, it's simply bollocks and about as funny as root-canal work.

You must also hate Super Troopers. That's sad.

Oddly enough I quite enjoyed that one. They got the blend of stupid jokes just right there, miaow. In Beerfest it fell flat as if they were trying too hard. Personal preference.

I could only sit through an hour of it before turning it off angry to have lost an hour of my life to that stinking pile of crap.
