Great music at the gig on Friday and look forward to hearing The Dopes again soon. Good range from Powder Finger to ACDC to your own songs.

Cheers Dally M. I think we were lucky to get away with belting Highway to Hell at 2.30am but the Shammy is good for playing loud in! We were supposed to be off by 1am so we were lucky with no complaints from neighbours. Dates will be posted this week.

A huge thank you to The Dopes for playing at my birthday party. I really enjoyed it and so did my friends. And thanks as well for playing "My happiness" on special request. smile.gif

No problem champion, it was good fun!

Thanks to The Dopes this year for supporting the Rugby League in Munich and Germany. Its not easy setting up a Sport most Germans dont know about but we have made much progress with over 300 Kids in Germany having played Rugby League in 2006. Thanks again for the Dopes and other Sponsors like macquarie Bank, Steeden, Hintsteiner etc.

Will support your gigs in 2007 when i can mate and will see if cant get Alix, Lee, Dee etc along as well. If you tell us where in Salzburg you are playing as sure the Rugby League guys down in Bad Reichenhall would be up for watching your Gig as Salzburg is just over the mountain!

The Dopes pulled off what turned out to be a massive gig in the Euro Youth Hostel's Ballroom Friday night!

The night was kicked off by Jeffrey Hayes who opened for us and who we enjoyed meeting and jamming with for the first time.
Jeffrey played some originals and some fantastic Johnny Cash covers amongst others and joined us on stage for a one off jam which had the crowd wanting more.

Christian from The Jigger's joined us on stage as well as Kym Cooper for the jam before The Dopes returned for a long rockin' night.
A big thankyou to our special guest's and again to the crowd who were on top of us by the time i screeched "highway to hell" to close another big gig for us.

The Dopes belted out the new rocker "Lonely girl" Friday to a great reception which is encouraging again as we are recording this week a new original's demo. This recording will also be mixed and available soon but for now we are getting the demo ready for approaching new live music venues etc.

You can catch The Dopes at the Arc this saturday night for a special farewell gig for our mate John Wilson and further dates will be announced here on Toytown and on the pub's websites soon.

It was indeed a great gig at The Arc - many thanks, well done and come back soon!!!

Will do mate, it was a great night! Thanks once again to The Arc for supporting local music.

You little aussie superstars!
That was such a great night at the Arc for Johns leaving so I didn't need too much convincing to go along as a groupie for your Shrobenhausen gig. Fucken hell, gentlemen (and Troy) - that Schrobenhausen festival was one of the most entertaining nights out I've had in ages. My face still hurts from laughing (in a good way).
You guys Rocked the Willage!

I don't think Shrobenhausen knew what hit it but I lost count of how many encores you had to do (and they still hadn't had enough!). After 2am and even the security guards were going to let you keep feeding the crowd...

I have to say, in all honestly.. there is only one man who could have busted out the superstar moves and gay poses better than you guys, and that's The Hoff.
I know for a fact that even The Hoff himself would have been impressed-speechless by some of Troys moves.

High quality entertainment boys, no matter which way you look at it. My favourite quote was from Darren, to the Bavarian crowd of several hundred villagers "Ees thes a fucken good band or what!!?" although "How gay is Troy!?" was pretty well timed too.

Well done chaps, I'm definitely coming along on any future Willage Tours, I reckon the requests will start pouring in now.
Anyone check if there was any pics in the Shrobenhausen newspaper?
Marshbot
I didn't get many good pics cos my camera was low on battery, but here's a few from the beginning and end. Doesn't quite capture the size of the crowd unfortunately.

Marshbot
Two more..

bludga
The best part was smashin up the stage and having people offer me loads of drugs. Thanks for the pics, the gig was video'd and we have been getting loads of great responses for it. Troy was so gay but thats his path. Pub rock n roll fame does it to people i guess.
Marshbot
And a selection from the Arc gig too...

Jeffrey Hayes will be supporting The Dopes tommorrow night for the recorded Shamrock gig folks. He will also support us on our last show of the weekender at the Euro Youth Hostel. So if you want to catch this brilliant singer songwriter get in early to any of these two gigs.

The Dopes.

great night again and the crowd loved it! Reckon you should do "Lost and Running" or something off the new Powderfinger Album. Cant go wrong with doing Powderfinger. Looking forward to getting your CD soon...
bludga
Cheers mate, last gig tonight thank fuck. I'm wrecked! The crowd were great once again, the Shammy is a great place to play always. The recording has come out great as well so we will be chopping it up a bit and mixing it for download soon. S

The Dopes would like to thank the Euro Youth Hostel in Bad Gastein and all of the staff for a great weekend. Although Troy is still away Jacko and i had the place rockin' and we have been invited back for more gigs in the winter. This hostel is a great place, look it up for accomadation in the ski season as the parties are nuts.

cheers

The Dopes.
berny
again. seriously. cover bands. why?
Dally M
The Dopes also do their own music and damn fine it is too. So the Dopes arent just a Cover band neither-in fact they also have a CD with their own songs on. Maybe before making such rash stupid comments you should try and bothered to inform yourself of the facts. The Dopes also do good cover versions. These are mainly from songs that some people havent heard of and in doing so promoting bands like Powderfinger, to a new audience as well as adding some uniqueness to the songs-for example Jacko on Mouth organ- which provides a good mix. I dont know anybody who has seen The Dopes, fail to be unimpressed by the wide range of songs they do. The Dopes arent in it for the money but rather just enjoying playing music and entertaining people.

If you dont like them or what they do tough shite-its your loss and many people do and often play infront of packed Bars and Pubs which should tell you something! instead of criticizing maybe A ) get your facts right and B ) Understand how hard writing good Original music is. Also that there is nothing wrong doing Cover versions as well as Originals as often most people want to hear Covers and it helps the place rock when the audience know the words to some of the songs played.

oh i was quite aware that they had their own material. but theyre still a cover band. and yes, lots of people do want to see cover bands. People are stupid, remember.

Its safe and boring. take a chance and fucking go for it if thats what they want to do, but dont pretend that what they do is art. or even rock.

i dont mean to upset you but cover bands are like lidl whiskey to me. cheap knockoffs of a powerful drug.

if you want to introduce someone to powderfinger, give them a loan of fingerprints, or make your own best of.

g'luck.
bludga
Classic!
Dally M
Whatever-You think you know it all when in reality you have no idea. What was your point in posting again?
berny
i like the look of my own words on a screen. what was your point?
bludga
No worries Berny, we are not for everyone champ and we are only doing these cover gigs for a crack. I would prefer to belt my originals anyway, if you sat down for a beer with me you would know that. Your point taken mate.
marybeth
Hey there, its Marybeth D'Amico, just to get the name straight, thanks! wink.gif ...accompanied by Niels Cremer, on acoustic guitar, upright bass and even the occasional harp...not simultaneously of course. It'll be a short set consisting of songs from my debut EP as well as some newer ones, with additional original material from Niels. And maybe a cover song if you beg us for more..hope to see some of you there!
jimb0
uuhhh... the euro hostel... at the beginning of my stay in munich i was always there. i'll probably come again this friday to see how's going on there and to check out you guys playing!
bludga
The Dopes would like to thank Marybeth D'Amico and Niels Cremer for opening up for us at the Euro and also Jeffrey Hayes once again. Another big crowd at the Euro helped the night along. The Dopes are at the Shamrock Saturday night.

Fri 30.Nov.2007 - The Dopes live at the Euro Youth Hostel.

The Dopes are back at the Euro this friday with a special female guest.

jaxon
as the big man has been absent for a while, its bout time he asserted his place in the current duo as really questions have been asked bout what he brings to the stage.

So is this one going to be broadcast so I can catch it from this side of the Atlantic?

The Dopes were rocking Saturday Night at the Alte Messe Gasthaus, Therisienhohe at the Touch Footy Party. If you want a band to get your Party rocking and people singing and dancing this is the band to have. Heard the Boys had a good time on Friday at a Student venue in town!

Fri 14.Dec.2007 The Dopes live at the Shamrock!

The Dopes are playing their final gig for 2007 (except a birthday party on Saturday at the Arc) at the Shamrock Friday night. Our kid Jacko is heading back to oz for a few months and also it's a friend of the Dopey's Daniella's birthday party on the same night so it should be a monster session. Troy and i will be heading to the ski fields in Bad Gastein again for Saturday the 29th of December to play the Euro hostel there. Also this Friday is another fundraiser for the German Rugby league. We have a female vocalist getting up as a special guest with us as well.

Hope to see you there

The Dopes.

Dally M
Thanks boys for last night-Raised a further 142€. This will be spent on covering the costs of bringing Former Great Britain prop and one of the best young Coaches in the UK, Neil Harmon over. He will be running a couple of coaching sessions in Nuernberg today the 15th Dec and another in Bad Reichenhall on Monday 17th December. We now have 4 teams looking to play in a small comp in 2008-Bad Reichenhall, Franconian Pigs, Rohrbach Hornets (Heidelberg) and Rheinland. Thanks to all who have contributed to the various Fundraisers we have held.

The Dopes in the Shammy=Sunday history. GREAT...
Vava
Great gig last night in Shammy!
bludga
Cheers all, it was a great night. bit shattered today to be honest. The Shamrock made a killing so they're happy, dunno about the neighbours though. Thanks to all who helped raise money for the German Rugby League with the raffle. Apparently the bottle of Bundy won ended up smashed on the floor which is a tragedy in itself. If anyone has any decent photo's please pm myself or troy (barfly). It would be great to get a few shots. The Dopes are away in Schrobenhausen to unleash some chaos on the country folk for fasching this weekend.

Cheers
