(Updated for new season starting autumn 2007)

EHC München are the towns local ice hockey team who now play in 2 Bundesliga (2nd division)

Their last season was their first year in 2 Bundesliga, and it was hard for them. They ended the season playing in the relegation rounds, but escaped to have another year in the league.

From what I heard it's NOT the London Knights Major Junior team that's making the trip over to Europe. But instead, it's a group of non-NHL alumni players who used to play for the London Knights previously. So this friendly game becomes alot less important now. sad.gif Guys with pro deals (i.e NHL players like Shanahan, Perry) would definently not be allowed on the trip.

The assistant coach of the Knights is Pat Curcio who played 6+ years in Germany. He's the guy who organized the trip over. So far the tour looks like this:

Aug 15 vs Straubing, Germany
Aug 17 vs EVR Tower Stars
Aug 19 vs ERC Ingolstadt
Aug 20 vs Black Wings Linz, Austria
Aug 22 vs Vienna Capitals
Aug 24 vs EHC Munich, Germany

How much do these games cost to attend? I've grown up a caps fan with mighty Germanic warrior Olaf Kolzig, and wouldn't min dseeing some hockey while I study abroad.

This doesn't have anything to do with EHC, but it is Ice hockey related.

I will be travelling (by car) to Ingolstadt on Tuesday August 19th 7:30pm, to watch a pre-season game between Ingolstadt vs. London Knights. If you'd like to come along, let me know. I've got a few spots available in the car. PM me.

Great game last night in Ingolstadt. 5-3 win for the Panthers. 2 NHL stars were playing for the Knights. The Knights play EHC Muenchen this Sunday night at 6:30pm. I will be there.

Ill be in Munich around September 8th and interested in attending games. Its to bad the London Knights already played, as they are coached by an old hockey idol by the name of Dale Hunter.

Right I'll be there in the usual corner of the rink...

EHC München 3 - London Knights 4 (after penalties)

So, munich were leading 3-0 up in this pre-season friendly. Around 32 minutes, they swapped their Joey Vollmer for their 2nd netminder and it all went down hill from there. Of course the 2nd netminder got stuck in their for the penalties as well.

Munich were passing the puck well, they know where each other was. It certainly could have been 8-0 after 30 minutes or so if it hadnt been for Dennis in the London Knights net. Munich couldnt slapshot for toffee, but their work behind the net was very good. Saw a few punchs get thrown, and penalised straight away. I wouldnt want to say that they knights were trying to goon it up, but it got to the stage where Munich just skated away after the first punch leaving the Knights player chasing after them - the knights players obviously geting the extra penalties for not letting things lie.

All in all a good pre-season. Fans were in fine form, beer has gone up to €3,50! and the curry wurst still smelly lovely.

This Saturday / Sunday are 2 cup games

Samstag 30.08.2008 20:00 EHC München - ERC Ingolstadt
Sonntag 31.08.2008 18:00 EHC München - Straubing Tigers

I am certainly going to saturday nights game. It should be a cracker. If your planning to go, I'd advice maybe getting tickets before hand and turning up for doors open time. It could get pretty full. Sunday will be an adhoc visit. Munich has a history of doing pretty well in the opening rounds of the cup. Lets see how they do this year!

Any else thinking of heading up on Saturday?

Someone asked about ticket prices, €13 standing - €20 sitting for adults.

We normally stand in the corner between blocks M & N

It'll be Saturday for me if anything. It all depends on how tragic Friday night is. cool.gif

EHC München 0 - Ingolstadt 3

Well, pretty simple Ingolstadt were the better quality side tonight. Ingolstadt play in the DEL, EHC München in the 2nd division. There were some signs of life from Munich when they could get out of their zone, but it was more lucky breaks than constructed ones. It wasnt that Munich were that bad (for Munichs normal season play) but Ingolstadt were good enough to shut down their options, and with a great goalie in the net for ingolstadt it looked pretty good.

It got a bit chippy and penalty happy in the middle of the third, but by then the fans in the nord curve had lost intrest and were just bouncing around. The ref had a mare of a game. Not able to keep any consistency between the periods. Its a real shame they dont wear their names on the back of their black and white shirts.

I have several friends willing to go to the next home game, and was wondering if we could all get together and throw in for a group rate ticket if possible?
pootle
Dont think you can get group tickets. If your german is good enough, call up their main office.

Chances of being at next home game are very slim for me. I'll be drunk at the wiesn
pootle
Sorry been a bit lax with wiesn and illness.

I'm planning on heading up on Sunday night, for EHC v SC Bietigheim. Face off is 18:30

They've seem to find some form of late, and are currently in 4th in the league

What side of the arena do we buy tickets for? North or South?

(we're intending on going to the EHC Munich/landshut game on Jan 9th)

the ends that are standing room is where all the freaks stand with their drums and such.
The few games I have attended, sat on the Section D to F side, the hockey players families usually sit in D.

SO, anyone...for a fan of EHC munich, north or south? (cause that's what the website asks for)
