*Sigh*.

The Love Parade should take place in Frankfurt.

Shame. Seems like an on-off relationship.
No parade in 2005. There was a
parade in 2006. But now no parade again in 2007.
Perhaps this event is set to take place on approximately alternate years.
QUOTE
Dear Friends of the Loveparade,
today we regretfully have to make public some very sad news. Due to the failure to date of the City of Berlin to grant us written approval, the Loveparade 2007 cannot be held in Berlin. We do not have the level of planning security necessary for the preparation of an event of this magnitude

You could try the
Al Gore Climate Concert instead?

Except there was also no Love Parade in 2004. I know, since I had timed a visit to Potsdam to coincide with it. So maybe we have to wait until 2009?

The Love Parade is dead, long live the
Street Parade - Europe's largest street festival. It's been looking like the Love Parade has sadly run its course for a few years now; attendance levels have been well down even in the years it has gone ahead.

Aye, some aquaintances of mine of the ripped-off-their-tits-wave-their-hands-in-the-air variety say that Zürich is the new LoveParade.

No Loveparade this year? There is a god, and he loves me!
I seriously hate seeing my town full of tasteless wasted village kids that get their heir dyed blue and a fake tattoo once a year.To the extent that i dont leave home on Love parade weekends. Vastrahlte Spinna ham wa hia selba schon jenuch, die müssn wa nich noch importiern, wa?

My German friends stay out until the morning hours.

What pisses Berliners off is that as long as it is legally a demonstration, the bankrupt city-state has to pay for it and it creates a LOT of mess.

It's been reclassed as a commercial event for the past two years. The first year it happened the organisors couldn't find enough sponsorship to cover all the additional costs so the event was cancelled. Last year they were sponsored by some gym company and the event went ahead. This year it looks as though the City hasn't granted permission at all, even as a commercial event, thus missing out on the opportunity of one million visitors coming to Berlin and contributing financially to the bankrupt city-state...

Because they wanted the same date as the Al Gore Climate Concert and that will bring people with actual cash into the city, rather than less rich teens and twens.

It is hard to negotiate with the authorities for big events if there is a clash and berlin would deffo rather have Gore than a load of spaced out freaks.

Best news ever!!! Seriously. No dirt everywhere, no urine destroying plants and trees in the Tiergarten, no traffic chaos, no STUPID techno!!! I am happy.

"Destroying", do me a favour. Still looked pretty green when I was there last despite 15 years of people pissing on it.

Fine, DAMAGING. Sorry about my exaggeration!

There have been reports every year after the Love Parade about the severe damages done to the environment from all the feces and waste etc. I just don't like that "event". Period.
In New Orleans, a measure of the success of Mardi Gras is the amount of trash the city scoops up out of the gutters. They weigh it at the end.

Oum ... born & bred Berliner this end of the line Madam. When you go out to
party here, you leave the house Friday shortly before midnight and come back sunday afternoon.
Have to admit i am too old and bored to do that every weekend these days tho. I come home next day at noon these days, sometimes to leave again at midnight ;p. At my age i need the rest

... i dont cheat sleep anymore these days... well, very seldom. Its better for my nasal septum too
Honestly ... i dont go out that often anymore at the moment. Just can't afford the jet lag.
Oh and Kat78: Damn right you are
And incidentally, afaik every Love parade did make it necessary to replant quite a lot of Bushes & Hedges ... even some trees. But that i could live with, its the Million of Idiots that literally contaminate the whole city.

You can do that in Munich too but I concur it is a very Jammy Doughnut thing to do.

Ahhh, so geocities has a 5 megabyte per hour limit. How lame.
Anyway, I've modified the geocities site, so it's an index page, and for now, the scanned fuckparade2006 info sheet is hosted on another server. In a little bit the traffic limiter should let up on geocities, then it will be possible to view the flyer. In the meantime, wait!

That all sounds rather complicated when you could just upload the images into your post...
Ah-ha! small town boy, You are correct... now! At the time I posted, the 'Attachement system', visible below the editing box, on the right side said 'Max. single upload size: 80kb'. Since the smallest I could make the scans was a 800 kb jpeg, per scan, 6 scans... not possible
Now it says 'Max. single upload size: 2mb'... I dunno, r u an admin or something? some1 seems to have , as the upload limit has very obviously changed in the last two days.
there, now it's uploaded.
-
er, ah, no. as the attachment system likes to mangle the attachments into whatever order. messes with the 'editorial integrity', i.e. pages out of order... although I uploaded them TWICE in the correct order, they came back TWICE in a seemingly random order in the finished post. I'll think about it for a sec, mabye zipping them is better. Defo in the correct order, tho not any smaller.

No love parade? yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
but real reason? the parade's organisers are pissed at the city of Berlin for not footing the bill for clean-up, security, etc. At least the wildlife in Tiergarten and the green space wont be so poorly disrespected and/or killed.
