KaDeWe, Kaufhaus des Westens, celebrates 100 years. Originally founded in 1905 it opened its doors in 1907.

It was destroyed in the war but reopened again in 1950 where it became a symbol of the economic boom of West Berlin.

Famous for is fashion both male and female, but even better is the 6th and 7th floors totally dedicated to fine foods. Thats two football fields of food! A culinary delight.

Attracts between 40,000 and 50,000 visitiors each day.

Seeming a big party with a giant birthday cake in the main hall. Very impressive.

Spiegel article: KaDeWe reaches 100!

The place was nice...but Hertie in Munich is extremely similar...maybe I just expected more since I'm used to the Mall of America...not worth the trip to Berlin, but if you happen to be in Berlin...well... ;-p
