BBC World has stopped broadcasting on DVB-T (digital terrestrial broadcasting) in Berlin and has been replaced by a home shopping channel.

Philistines.

Known as SHopping In Television which gets abbreviated to SHIT

I hear rumours that BBC World has now gone commercial.
Wonder if this could be at all related..
KofferInBerlin
As far as I know BBC World has always been commercial. I suspect they probably decided DVB-T in Berlin wasn't worth the cost.
KofferInBerlin
For clarification, this is BBC World television, not the World Service (radio), which is still happily burbling away on FM.
DragonSlayer
So what now? Any chance of it coming back? The DVB-T Portal still lists BBC World as a channel for Berlin http://www.dvb-t-portal.de/Programme/index.php?senderegion=7

Can't live without Top Gear unsure.gif

Its a disgrace I am lost without the bbc so any chance we can petition the guys in DVB-T Portal to put it back and while their at it put in cnn as well,

Someone find out a email and we'll will just pound them with.
mails and letters.

I'll write out a formula.
KofferInBerlin
The decision to stop BBC World was made by the BBC itself, not Berlin's DVB-T.

My attempt to complain to the BBC is recorded here.

google astra2d. There is an astra2d website with setup instructions. We are thinking about hiring Aslan from kreuzberg (the shop, not the lion), to put in a 150cm dish to pick up all the UK free-to-air channels.

I used to in a previous life I used to install satellite dishes for sky and I know all about setting the up the dish the programs settings everything. But you'll need the scanner and no fear of heights.

The scanner's hard to get.

I'll help you if you want.German television is not only rubbish it's also outdated. They show shows that are 3 and 4 years old. So I have to get my own dish as well now.

I am very upset about not having my BBC World broadcast. Click, Top Gear, Talking Movies, Fast Track, This Week, Reporters, Hard Talk as well as the World News Today were always welcoming to objective and informative programming. Too bad. Euronews is a very sad comparison. And, if the GEZ thinks Im going to pay for the "priveledge" of owning equipment that can or can not be used in order to get certain 2 stations, they are sadly mistaken. Especially when those same stations are riddled with commercial advertisements (more than paying for facilities) and award their personnel with upwards of 6 to 7 figure salaries. German TV is somewhat a joke. When I see things from the UK, USA and Australia, I am reminded of how advanced the audio/visual creativity stands in this medium as opposed to bright yellow and organge metallic colors of German TV and their poorly dressed hosts (light brown suit, red and green striped shirt and organge/blue pattern tie???).

What about those room rennovation shows? Where they go into every show with a full catalogue of cheap plastic ikea furniture, horrible kindergarten/fast food colours, then blindfold the "victims" and reveal their poor design sense in slow motion with a wealth of gay music.
