Winterspeck weg!

We all know how daunting it can be to start up in a new sport, especialy when you stand on the sideline and watch those with experience make it all look so fluent (all fake believe me :-)). With this in mind, and as the gods of fate would have it, we're offereing those who want to try out the game a separate training session next to the main game on a Sunday concentrating on the first steps ball handleing (stop sniggereing), walk-throughs of basic positioning, basic rules and tactics etc. It's a great way to get to know what is a fun, healthy and social sport for any age gender and fitness level (well apart form the beer garden bit after!)

All are welcome
gideon
Thanks for all who turned up and took up the offer, you all improved over the day and quickly grasped the basics of positioning. I'd like to go through the ideas of the basic drive and polish up the rollball with you next time. See you there.

Location is the same as for Touch Rugby on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, namely the English Garden on the meadow between the Chinese Tower and the Seehaus lake, Giselastrasse Ubahn stop.

Just to remind people that sunday is on and the weather will be great! I promise. But please remember to put your clocks one hour forward on Saturday.
gideon
I've just been secretly asked as to how a drive functions. We didn't realy have much time to go over that last week. We should though do that quickly this week so those who are new to the sport can learn it.

I also had some other odd questions which I'll air on Sunday too!.

See you there.

I am interested in touch rugby but i have 0 knowledge and experience. I played soccer for years and watched quite a bit American Football but no rugby. So, what should i do?
Owain Glyndwr
just come along to a training session, we'll show you the ropes.
gideon
Hope to see you down tomorrow sharpe. If anybody else is thinking about starting up and what to give it a go, tomorrow is the ideal day.

Hello,

I'm moving to Munich for a month tomorrow - haven't played Rugby for a few years but would love to get involved in some touch. Is it ok to turn up on Wednesday?

Dan
LeChamois
It's only on Sundays at 11am unless I have missed something. I am quite sure I haven't though.

Dan

Hi Dan, we are only playing on Sunday mornings at the moment. During the summer we also train on Tuesdays and Thursdays but due to lack of light we cant train midweek in winter. Come down one Sunday when you arrive and join in.
iancu
there come someone on sunday (02.12.) to the rugby training?
Inflatablewoman
I'll be down there this Sunday.
iancu
and at 02.12?
nomis
About fifteen people turned up to play a week ago and then twelve people yesterday so I expect there will be enough people to play next Sunday (02.12) too.
loratadine
hey guys, me and two mates are coming over from the home of rugby wales smile.gif haha... so we'd defo be interested for a game, where gunna be coming over on the 14th... is this still going on even in winter??
Inflatablewoman
Next Sunday there will be no TOUCH training due to us playing the xmas exibition game on the Saturday.

@loratadine
We'll be playing as normal on the 16th so feel free to join in, be there around 11:20ish.
Inflatablewoman
Do not forget that there is a Social Touch game this Saturday at 2pm in the Englischer Garten prior to the xmas party!!!

Failure to attend could mean you forfit your player of the year award!!!*

Ok, that's a lie.. but it could make you look like you dont care, do you really want that?
t.c.roderick
When does the touch rugby start up again? Or are we staying out of the cold...
gideon
This sunday I believe.
t.c.roderick
Bloody mint, that's what it is.
singhabhish

LeChamois
Certainly, there are already lots of girls playing and everyone is welcome. See you on Sunday.
Element2082
Hey guys, would love to start playing touch. I guess this thing is still on in the winter?

Same place same time this Sunday?
seb
Yep same time and place every sunday
thegrimsleeper
Hello - I showed up at 11, but there was no one playing rugby. Was it called off this past weekend?
gideon
Whoops the team was playing in Vienna. Sorry for not informing you here of that. Normal service will be resumed this week.
AllSaint
"The team" may have been playing in Vienna, but a group of us played in the English gardens as usual. We probably only started at about 11:20 though - but that isn't so unusual! Sorry you missed us.
Inflatablewoman
Just an FYI. The team is away this upcoming weekend for a tourney in Berlin. There may be a few folk down there on the Sunday, but I can't promise anything.
Enda Storey
I can afirm there WILL definitely be Touch this Sunday..."just for fun", all welcome, usual time, usual place ;-) we had ca. 12 out last time there was a team event on elsewhere...so n'hesitez pas ;-)

Inflatablewoman
A lot of the team will be away this weekend, but there are also still plenty of players in Munich. Just warning you that there may or may not be a game on.
AllSaint

There you go, rock up with a ball! smile.gif
AllSaint
Just a reminder, that unless there's torrential rain on Sunday morning, Touch will be going ahead at 11am in the English Garden. It's just for fun and everyone's welcome.
Lassie
I'll be there even in torrential rain. You're such a northern softie!
rich_mole
I think I'll roll down for a game on Sunday as well.
AllSaint
I just thought with a lot of the "regular" players away, that there might not be many people attending if it's raining. Now we've got some definites - I'll be there whatever the weather!
Galwaylady
Hi, I'd like to give touch rugby a go - also never played before. When is the next training session?
Inflatablewoman
Tonight... 6:30.
Galwaylady
Read the above message too late:( when is the next training session? I see that the touch rugby date for Jun 15th is now gone from the event calender, does that mean that training is not on regularly?
Owain Glyndwr
i can still see it in the calender
AllSaint
Training is held regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm and social games on Sunday at 11am.
Inflatablewoman
Numbers for this Thursday will be few to none due to Germany playing in the EM2008. Best to come down to social touch on Sunday @ 11am or next Tuesday at 6:30.
Galwaylady
Cool, thanks! I'll be there Sunday, looking forward to it smile.gif
Donal1988
Hi I came out at 11 on Sunday 3rd August 2008 but there was nobody there. Is it on every Sunday or just when posted?
Inflatablewoman
I was there on Sunday from 10:55. We must have had about 20 players at least by the end. Although it's often sluggish to get going, what time did you hang around till?

We'll be playing tonight if you fancy a run around tonight. You can get in touch with me on my mobile next time to be sure you can meet up with us. PM for my mobile number.

Touch rugby in the English Gardens is cancelled for Sunday 10th August because most people who play touch rugby are taking part in the Bavarian Open touch rugby tournament or a rugby league game this weekend instead.
