Amanda Schmidt - American girl missing in Berlin

Today I saw these missing girl posters all over Berlin-Mitte. Now I don't know the girl nor the parent but she is English-speaking. She is from the States, and in Berlin that is a small world, so she is bound to turn up somewhere. If you hear or see her tell her to ring her parents or ring them yourself and put their minds at rest. People just don't go missing there always some sort of trace.

Let's hope this is true in her case. Yesterday a friend told me that a friend of hers (well, someone in her group of Erasmus students at her university, another one in Barcelona, that hang out together) went missing here in Barcelona in mid November. There is still no trace as of what happened to him. His passport was at his house. No one ever used his credit cards/ATM cards. He just vanished. And it's been three months...
I hope this girl will be found.

lavender rain, curtis is a guy's name. she tattooed some kind of love interest named curtis on the back of her neck.

...and the actor (Sam Riley) who played Ian Curtis in the recent film currently lives in Berlin.

Some years back there was guy that went to my university in Sweden. He went missing after a night out with his university friends.
He was denied entry into a night club (too drunk) and then he vanished. All over the city there were posters just like the ones of this girl.
Thing is that the guy was found several months later.
He had walked of from the club to the city water channel (or canal) to take a piss. Since it was winter and icy, he slipped, fell in and broke through the ice. When spring came his body emerged.
He had been lying in the middle of the city for about 4 months!

I hope this girl is found alive.

An Art Project rubbish.. What total wattle. Really you think someone would be stupid enough to place photos of a missing girl all over mitte and call it an Art project. Yesterday I noticed someone has gone round and removed all of them. Maybe the guilty party.

10 to 1 the girl is not going to be found alive. Sad, but look around you. There is sad stuff happening all the time.

People don't just go missing on there own.

Yes they can I know for a fact they can. Yet I do wonder if this is the case. The dynamics of this story are well none. There is no info on it on google outside a flikr posting and Toytown. I sent an email yesterday to a few friends yesterday to see if they had heard of this story but no responses yet. I would picth in and post up posters if I knew what was going on. Like:

Is she still missing?
was this a planned trip?
did she even make it through customs?

I mean no info.

You could try calling the number and asking for more info.

Exactly. If you compare it to the Steve story mentioned before, you get a site placed by his worried family; you get news about his disappearance. In this case, there is nothing, which is either very sad and weird (even the airline/customs have no info?) or some sort of "arts" project as someone has suggested before. It wouldn't be the first sick art project...

So I did a reverse phone check on the number provided. It comes up as a cell/handy phone in Easton PA. Although it shows private although that could be because of it being a cell phone. I did a check on Schmidts in PA (300) and none matched the number or even the area code. I also did a simple search of the name in missing person Easton and no results. Granted it was only a google search but I thought something would come up. So I am leaning hoax and thats sad that someone had to do this. So this TTer tried.

Well, just added an Amanda Schmidt (from New York) on Facebook. I asked with the add if this chic has ever been to Germany - with the acceptance there was no answer, but I checked the birthdate, and it's the same as listed on the search poster...profile picture resembles the 'missing' Amanda too, so fairly sure she's one and the same and alive and well and living it up back home...
