Mountain bike trails around Berlin

Off the beaten track good places to ride

Im picking up a new bike this weekend. Im going for a MTB this time as opposed to a hybrid road bike. Its mainly for comfort over cobbled roads / up & down curbs etc, but it will also be used for some more 'serious' riding! Dont get me wrong, i dont mean extreme downhill mountain type rides, but rather rough forest/hill tracks where you can bike as a group & still have fun without risking breaking any bones! lol If anyones from the UK... imagine something like some of the paths over the peak district smile.gif Crazily fast in places, rocky in places... but always enjoyable.

so does anyone know of any areas around berlin like this? Ive been told there are some good places around Potsdam. Any recommendations will be appreciated!

cheers, Matt

coincidentally i was speaking to my colleague today about places to ride, and she mentioned somewhere north of pankow, said it wasn't too far. Can't remember where exactly, or any further details, but i'll let you know if I find out more.

I have spent the last good years single tracking through the Grunewald. If you are in Treptow then jump onto the S-Bahn ring 42 and get yourself in the direction Grunewald. Lots of fast technical and not so technical routes. Some hills offer some muscle pain and sweat. When the weather starts going into the doubles then I would invite you for a tour, sorry the days when I used to go out in all temperatures has gone, rain is no problem.
