Dallmayr are doing their spring wine-tasting session in the old
Rathaus on 5th April. There will be over 90 wines from wine-makers in Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, South Africa, USA, and Argentina.
There are two sessions: 13:00-17:00 and 19:00-22:00.
It costs €20 per person - refunded if you purchase twelve bottles.
Tickets online via
dallmayr-versand.de, do a search for "Weinprobe" to find them.

I might be going to the evening session. Haven't got round to buying tickets yet though. If I go I'll probably get them at the Abendkasse.

I just went to the site to buy tickets and from what I can tell, (with the help of babel fish translation), the evening is sold out and the afternoon tasting "is not avaiable?" So is it sold out too?
Can I just show up and get tickets? Has anyone done this in the past?
Also on another note, I have been looking for the winery, Juliusturm Dornfelder Liblich, with some trouble. I found it in the states and the company told me that the winery makes the wines just for them. So my thought is that since the people posting here are into wines, I thought they might be able to point me in a direction to find it.
Thanks.
It's strange, you're right, evening is sold out and daytime only says not available after you click on it. You'd better call them to see.

Can I just show up and get tickets?
No. I turned up on Saturday hoping to be able to get tickets at the door, but they were pre-order only.

I'll take a wild guess around late October, early November time period. As always keep a look out early on in mid-end of October. Hopefully someone posts the info up once its known.

No it is not possible to buy tickets at the door, as stated above.
Can you sample as much of the product as you like? Or is it strictly rationed?
Thinking about going saturday afternoon as I have a buddy over for the weekend

The samples are not strictly rationed. You can get away with as drinking as much as you like, within reason.

I can also recommend Forum Vini, I went a few years ago after winning some entrance tickets through INN Magazine, had a great time but had to watch how much I was drinking!

Isn't the point to taste the wine, not drink it?

Does anyone know what the policy is for tickets purchased the same day? I've just bought 2 for this afternoon. Is it ok to just have my order sheet printed out?

Had a great evening!! And the cheese and chocolate was damn good. Whisky was OK as well. You could buy tickets at the door last night if you wanted to. That must be new. Thanks for posting this EB.

Well...
Surely that depends?
Really don't see the point of spitting it out if it tastes nice.
Didn't go in the end as weather was too nice to spend afternoon indoors drinking - I mean tasting wine

Regarding a different wine event...
For those interested... I believe there is a wine tasting with cape tapas at the Ilanga Wine Bar tomorrow.
For any wine enthusiasts - Kleien Zalze Wien Estate will present their wines and each wine will be paired to Cape Tapas from bobotie - to prawns with mango atjar.
Cost = €16 (Ilanga Smartcard cusotmers) / €18 new guests
