and the Kurzstrecke is probably going up to 1.30 - ouch! I love the kurzstrecke.
That is kind of obnoxious, even if it doesn't affect me. (I work in Potsdam, so I have an ABC already.) Of course, some cities are even worse, and charge extra for a bus to the airport rather than including it in their public transport network.
BTW, has the ring itself always been part of A rather than B? That seems like it would also be annoying, if you were trying to go from somewhere in C to somewhere else in the outskirts, but had to touch the ring to do it.

hi!
is this really really out now...or are they just thinking about it?
so what happens when i have a ticket for zone ab and want to collect my boyfriend from the airport...do i have to leave the s-bahn one stopp before
schöneberg just to buy me an extra "kurzstrecke"-ticket?...i mean : it doesnt work differently as i have to "mark" my ticket at the last b-zone station ...so i need to leave the train, buy me a ticket, "mark" it and get back to te next train??? this is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid...how many stopps are involved in being in zone c now? only the airport one???oh god! i hate that...and you can be sure: only between zone b and c there will be all of the people who will check if your ticket is value for zone c ( basicly only for one single stop then)...aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I beleive it actually is happening now, as on the new maps, you clearly see SXF in the "C" portion. Basically they used the old map and ever so slightly moved the shaded portion...
Plus, it also says, on such and such a date, SXF wil be a Zone C stop.
Just another one of those fast cash grabs to get to the worst airport in Berlin.

You don't have to get off the train at the last B stop and then get back on. Before you get on the train, buy an extension ticket (Anschlussfahrausweis) for C (1,30 euros) and that, with your AB card, will be a valid ticket. Here is the link from the English part of the BVG website:
Extension TicketI figure the extra 2,60 (for both ways) every now and then will sure beat the 40 euros that you will get fined if you don't have it. I am just thankful that all the trains are running again!

The tarif companies (BBV in Berlin-Brandenburg ? ) are short of money.
It is politically easier to move the peripheral airports into a higher zone for travellers to and from the cities rather than increase the fare WITHIN the cities.

I now it may be a MINOR inconvenience, but are people seriously getting irrate about having to pay less than 3euros extra???!!!??? Lets face it, how many times do you go to the airport? Lets take the case of a worker who travels back home to the UK every week. Thats 12euros per month... and?? For the average user who may go to the airport once a month IF THAT its practically pennys (or cents whichever way you see it!).
In all fairness, if this puts the halts to any further strikes (for the near future) by enabling BVG/VBB to pay its drivers more, then its a big bonus for a titchy price!

The airport is actually outside the city limits (Landkreis Dahme-Spreewald) so people have been getting a bargain travelling on an AB ticket to date.

Interesting set of reactions there. I was just posting it so that people know to get the right ticket.
It costs me c.€70 to travel onward from my "home" airport as the public transport stops at 10pm, so the change to C isnt really hurting my pocket.
@ alika, thanks for the info, thats really useful
@ jtw, i dont know about the AB thing for the Ring, its only been a joined up entity for about 13 years (?) - theres a great shop at S-Koepenick that sells postcards of all the old S bahn netz from 1920s onwards. They show some interesting changes of station names.

Ok with the new tariffs does any know how much it will cost from Altglinike to Schoenefeld. Is it a normal BC "einselfahrt" or is it a "kurzstreke", short journey ticket?

Not totally sure but i always thought that a Kurzstrecke ticket was valid irrespective of the zone as it relates to the distance ie just 3 stops. Therefore you could use that to get from Altglienicke to Schoenefeld.
