I'm wearing sandals and white socks

I don't think the problem is really the socks, it's the sandals. However, if you have no option but to wear such things, then your stuffed.

Maybe there's something badly wrong with my style instinct after living here more than 3 decades, but I don't find white socks all that bad - though I do wonder how long they stay white when worn with open sandals. And those blue socks MAM had on today do have just a hint of sartorial elegance. But JE's grey socks - oh, no!!! Those really set my teeth on edge! Horror of horrors!

What would happen if someone wore a Hawaiian shirt and high ankle socks with sandals at the same time?

I can't figure out why you are issued sandles in a lab. Wouldn't you want to wear something that actually COVERED your feet in a lab?

Hey, do you guys wear CROCS over there? In the States, I find them really popular in Texas where it is warm most of the year and if you wear them in Maryland they are slowly gaining recognition but I had high school students get confused about my job role and thought I was a nurse because only nurses wear Crocs. I love my Crocs.

We have a special selectically conductive floor all over the lab. The sandals have a conductive base, and metal studs connecting from the conductive base to your feet, or in my case, my disgracefully coloured socks. Theoretically this prevents a buildup of static electicity and allows you to not worry about damaging electronics by touching them.

Its an electronics lab, not chemicals or other nasty stuff.

No, they aren't! It's just a fashion dictate that you can't wear socks with sandals, it's not written in sone, It;s just in the mind, I never follow fashion so I am free to wear what I want. I like wearing socks with sandals because some days it's too warm for shoes, too cold for sandals. I liek to keep my feet warm enough, and yet shoes would just be claustrophobic. I don;t care who points at me and laughs; too bad for them! How small minded!


Nope, it's just a fashion. Could be the complete opposite in a few years. Wear whatever you want and don't worry about the style pundits.

Problem solved. I decided it was hot enough today to just come in in sandals and bare feet. So I just swapped my private sandals for my corporate sandals.

My youngest has twice been to kindergarten this last week in sandles with socks on. He's German though. Not sure if that makes me a baddy daddy.

What is probably worse is I have a new pair of test shoes. They are black and very nice. Problem is I only have white socks with me today. I'd consider this a greater sin than sandles and socks.
