Hamburg is a port city in the north of Germany and a single state of the Federal Republic of Germany. With a population of 1.7 million it is Germany's second largest city (after Berlin).
The English-speaking expatriate population of Hamburg is around 8,900. This is comprised mainly of British and U.S. citizens, around 3,500 each. See expats in Germany for further details.
