Hanlon's Razor states: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

The term's derivation is unknown.

Applied to the TT chat forum this means: don't assume that a member, or one particular post from a member, is deliberately malicious when it is adequately plausible that this member is simply naive, stupid, or has mistakenly made one naive or stupid post.

Stupidity and naivety are substantially more prevalent than malice.

Also, if someone has recently joined the forum and starts making controversial posts, don't assume that this member must be another member in disguise and is deliberately trolling the forum. There are an awful lot of people out there. Most of them have never heard of TT. It is much more likely that a newcomer has just discovered the forum and doesn't understand its ettiquette yet, rather than being an existing member who is out to cause trouble.
